The posted video was of a Cherokee, the Grand Cherokee is a completely different beast. I don't think anyone thinks a Grand Cherokee is a serious offroader even in Trailhawk trim. Likely better than the other available midsize SUVs but no match for a Wrangler.

The Cherokee has a fair amount of off road after market support that can make it a competent offroader.

The thing is these "soft roaders" can't even tackle medium difficulty trails reliably.

I run a local mtb trail building crew and lead volunteers out to do trail maintenance. Stock 2WD pickup trucks get around perfectly on the washed out service roads. Everyone driving a unibody soft roader sweats their way down the trail and actually risks damage. These are not even remotely difficult trails.

The maverick is a city truck and is best left on the pavement

Yeah, it will depend on the location. Here in Puerto Rico you can do most “touristy” trails in a AWD unibody.

It has it’s market, we’re not it.
