Does the Ranger require moving a short distance in reverse to disengage the hubs after using 4x4? Like older models? Nothing in the manual indicating this.

NOPE!

At first when I got mine I would do that. Back up about 10 feet to ensure one or two full wheel rotations. Have since learned that we are good to go w/o backing up and perhaps our hubs are locked all the time even in 2wd.
