So about a year and a half ago I ended up getting a VG33E from a Nissan Xterra for my old 93 Pathfinder. About a year ago I finally got it to the shop. Well after dealing with other things I finally got to it today and will be doing a bit more tomorrow!

So far I have gotten the water pump replaced, the camshafts replaced(using the VG30E cams as it has more lift and slightly more duration) and did the cam and crank seals. All this was in 3-4 hours and not to bad if you ask me.

Still have more to do as I have to install lifters and rockers. Of course a few other things as well. But hey, at least I am making progress of sorts!!

holy shit. i am not easily intimidated. but that looks like a real pain in the ass.
Getting enough that transmission when I told the guy I only needed the engine was a pain in the ass. In general this is one of those time-consuming things but thankfully the old 93 Pathfinder is still running so I have time. Also I have dealt with a few different engines before so I'm not too intimidated. I just know that if I take time and don't rush things everything should be okay

Is there info out there for the wiring harness? Is it all custom?
Thankfully I just use the Factory harness from the Pathfinder. I have to swap certain parts that are electrical to match the Pathfinder and that's easy enough.

Improvements from this swap include the following,
*More power from bigger displacement (only 0.3 from a slightly bigger bore)and better flowing heads
*Bigger exhaust manifold studs that have way less chance of snapping
*Different belt drive going from V Belt to Multi Rib allowing the fitment of a 115 amp alternator vs the 70 amp factory
*Relocated oil filter for easier oil changes
*Better MPG due to not having to be in the throttle as much thanks to more power and better low end torque
