stuff
this just happened to me last sunday. same exact thing. went into a store, came out 10 minutes later and dead. fob would not unlock truck. had to use the mechanical key and then had no dash lights anywhere. nothing. dead. was that way for 5-10 minutes and me sitting in my truck trying to decide if i should call ford or AAA. i checked the battery cables and all snug. just used hands though. checked grounds. all there and snug. went back in truck and sat for a minute, then popped hood to check grounds again and the alarm went off. i had power and started right up.

i did NOT lose any radio settings or the trip odom stuff. if the battery was truly disconnected/bad i would think those things would be lost?

the funny thing, i noticed a serious improvement in power when hitting the gas. no idea why.

i'd like to know why this happened so that when i am in the middle of nowhere i am not stressing over it possibly stranding me.

my thoughts:

1)the immobilizer like others have said but would that kill all power and what would have triggered it?
2)interference from a nearby other vehicle that somehow messes with our systems?
3)some update that came down from cell but does ford even do that besides for sync? i am talking PCM stuff here not radio stuff.
4)battery management system issue and it reset itself for some reason and while it was "booting", prevented power from getting to vehicle from battery.

i do have an appointment at my local ford dealer for friday and the service writer was saying they heard people having mice chew wires cause stuff like this.

so i checked under the hood and air cabin filter. all clean. no evidence of mice.

hasn't happened since and i have stopped/started here and there alot since sunday. it was also very cold last night and she fired up perfectly at lunch.

Would be curious if your dealer is aware of this issue and what causes it. My dealer said they never had any reports about it, but I’m sure there are bulletins from Ford. If you receive any info from your dealership, please share with us.
