In maine you can pretty literally walk in to a dispensary and buy your med card. Price on card varies by store.. some are 10$ some are 35$.. and some offer a free card with a purchase of a set amount of product.

100$ an ounce with 5% tax for medical.
65$ an eighth with 12% tax for recreational.

You are correct- recreational prices are truly insane. It's like every fad, tho. A lot of normie folk are now casual smokers, and don't care about pricing I suppose. Luckily, we have medical "clubs" where individual vendors can sell directly to you, with pricing that more more accurately reflects the true available supply of cannabis. There is such an abundance, now that everyone and their momma is smoking and growing. An ounce should be like $50 honestly...

It's a lil more expensive to get a card here, but not much-- and very easy to get. Fun fact, I originally received my medical card over a decade ago by an Indian doctor who's last name was "Sohai". Yes, literally pronounced like "so high". Truly absurd

Even before tax, a slice from the rec store costs 50% more than what a good bag costed when it was illegal ?

Christ.. back in the day when I.. uh.. had two jobs.. I was getting q.p's for what an ounce costs from the rec store.. and its the same stuff grown by the same people ?

It's really the ease of getting a med card up here that "killed" the black market.

Some states will not let you have a weapons carry permit if you have a medical wacky weed permit is one reason I can think of.

And some users like to purchase firearms. There is a question on the firearms background paperwork about being a drug user. So if you have the medical card you shouldn’t be purchasing a firearm because then you are not being honest on the paperwork and the feds have issues with lying about firearms.

I can’t partake due to work rulz but a quick search online locally there are $95 oz deals available recreationally.
