Okay, that's four words. Still, it would be pretty cool if it ran directly on the console.

Just my 2¢ :
Android is just an OS that runs a Linux kernel. The OS itself is mostly released as open source under Apache License 2.0. Most of Google's control comes from licensing the not-open-source Google Play; this allows them to control what apps are available & negotiate data-skimming deals, as that is their bread-and-butter.

There are currently at least three dozen custom or specialized distributions of Android. Including a few who have no interest in sharing data with Google, and a few that are expressly built to block data from escaping without permission.

My guess is Ford will be running a very highly customized version of the OS, without Google Play, and with enough security restriction lock down on data sharing to avoid PR disasters. They'll also likely work closely with Google to develop the few apps that it will run & display as options.
