I held on to this hoping I could eventually transition it over to my new truck, unfortunately for me it doesn't look like GM has left a door open for flash tunes. I used a 5-Star 93 performance tune for nearly 3 years with zero problems. They are currently selling these on sale + 3 tunes for a little under $500.
I am looking to get $220 shipped to your door step. My Ranger was de-tuned prior to trade-in and the tuner unlocked. The 3 included tunes are;
- 93 Peformance (90 HP / 100 TQ)
- 93 Tow (???)
- "Lone Ranger" (5-Star states this is an auto adjusting tune based on octane level detected)
This tuner box has the ability to also adjust tire size. All of their tunes also make the e-throttle more responsive as well as the usual slew of things like transmission remapping and so forth. The 93 performance tune can shift hard depending how WOT you are rowing through the gears, but that is par for the course, it isn't hurting anything.
You can also get additional tunes via e-mail from 5-Star as needed.
I am telling you this tuner completely changed how this truck feels and drives and I wouldn't go back to stock if you paid me.
