I noticed that either the drivers door is bowed out a smidge or the fender needs to come out a hair right under the XLT badging.

Last pic is the passenger side and you can see it’s more flush.

Honestly I think it’s really a non issue, just a small mis-alignment that if I take it back to the dealer I run the risk of making it worse, no?

Or do you think it should be fixed?

That looks a little more exaggerated than mine at that spot. Good body shop tech could probably nudge that around a bit to get it less noticable. Ford has not had good fit and finish for years and honestly that looks better than what I've seen rolling off the delivery truck lately.

Do you think the fender or door (or both) need adjusting? I shouldn’t have an issue with the door rubbing the fender? That’s my biggest concern. There is a good gap between fender and the door so I should be okay there.

Can't really say based on the pictures you provided, but on mine, it appears to be the fender only. There is no adjustment at the fender badge, so likely a good body shop would try to gently flex the fender outward to make it look better.

Yes fender adjustment absolutely. 10mm bolt right in vicinity of the badge location. Fender is even slotted there for adjusting in/out.

Hi Phil,
Appreciate the info. I took a second look and there is an attachment point at the intersection of the a-pillar, a second about 6 inches below the fender badge and one at the bottom of the fender at the rocker panel. Based on the original posters pictures, it looks like adjustment is needed between the a-pillar mount and the mid fender mount. Not sure I'd even worry about adjusting anything based on the pictures though.

Did you ever work with the F150's? Seems like since they went aluminum, the door and fender gap tolerance seems to be all over the map. Do you know if that is something they check as part of quality control? I've seen a few new ones where the door gap was 1/8" in some places. Any idea what allowed spec is?

Appreciate any info you can share as that is the main reason I passed on a F150.
Thanks,
Jason

thanks! Overall a non issue though? Dealership isn’t close, but not far either. I’m just not usually nowhere near the area and would rather wait until I have a reason to be to pop in and ask for an adjustment.

Although I could take it to any Ford dealer?

AS long as there is NO possible contact between door and fender its only an issue if you want it to be. We all paid through the nose for these trucks so we want them as perfect as possible and that's understandable.

I’m hoping there is no contact between the door and fender, but it is a concern. Although there is more of a gap between the 2 than the passenger side, so that should mean I’m good (fingers crossed! ?)

Hi Jason,

I was already retired when the Aluminum cab launched...

Best,
