Does anyone have any experience with these brackets ?

My current brackets worked fine with my old dual 4" pods. But my new 5" pods are heavier and they bounce / vibrate at highway speeds.

I think the metal is thicker on the DD brackets. But I hate the position of the mount. I like mine being lower and closer to the glass. The DD brackets seem too tall and too far forward.

I'm afraid that I'll end up cutting and re-welding $100 brackets...

If I get the DD brackets,,, I'll have to cut them down @ ¾" and reposition the mounting plate further back (toward the glass) and a little more "inward".

Maybe either bend your own at that point, or find someone local to fab them. You have the pattern you want already. Just have someone match them in thicker metal.

I have "limited" access to a fab shop at work. But the guy who runs it is cool. I'll ask once or twice a year for an assist on some project. I just don't like asking him to weld anything. I was able to weld better than him when I was 12. But I don't have a welder at home so..... I'm at his mercy.

I'm suggesting to fab new brackets that match your existing one, but with thicker metal. I'm assuming they are one-piece, like the ones you show. No welding, just cutting to shape and bending/forming. Trace a pattern with some heavy paper from your current ones, and start cutting. Or perhaps add a gusset or brace to your current ones, if you can. That would probably require welding...

I may as well try gussetting the brackets I have now since I have nothing to lose. But,,, I have a $40 coupon to burn at AmericanTrucks and I could get the DD brackets for $60 right now. Then,,, chop'm up and sell my old brackets for $25.
