Just returned from a nice camping trip from the CO front range to Aspen CO. Ranger towed my 4000 lb loaded camper beautifully through I70 west and eastbound (see my icon pic and other posts for details). Yesterday return trip included a TFL benchmark 8 minute run up the Ike Gauntlet (at 5.7 MPG in that 8 mile segment according to the computer). It was heavy but fast moving weekend traffic and I was able to climb on the center lane at 60 MPH the whole time, passing slow semi trucks to my right while making room for faster cars to my left. Transmission temp rose on the incline from the normal towing 205-210F and topped at 235F and then stabilized at that for the last 2 miles at the top of the Ike and also at the top of Vail Pass. The transmission downshifted perfectly on the long descents and made it pretty easy to control the truck without overtaxing the breaks. Overall fuel efficiency for the 450 mile trip was 13 MPG. Love my Ranger - perfectly matched for my camper and travel style.
