I just noticed that when the brakes are activated the white lights come up top also activate. This isn't normal right?

I just had the trailer brake controller installed, I'm guessing the shop wired things wrong.

Was it the Ford trailer brake controller that they installed? If so, they probably mis-wired the CHMSL (third brake light), as the connector to that light (containing the white cargo lights) has to have pins removed and others installed in the connector. They probably reversed the pins in the connector.

Have the installer correct their wiring to the CHMSL, then.
Yeah, I figured that is what I would have to do. Just wanted to make sure there wasn't anything else that might cause this.

I cannot understand why, with the tie into the 3rd Brake Light, why they made it a possible error point in (hook-up)
Why run 3-wires from the ECU back to the light, when you only need (1) input.
Simplify the process routing 1-wire back then.
At the connector - make it a jumper harness with (1) cavity (the brake input) pin #3 have an extra wire hanging out of it to (environmental) splice to the (routed wire)
This would require (2-Jumper Harnesses) in the kit - Black or Grey (OEM) connector.
The jumper harness will have 4 wires, and 3 cavities to match the factory connector, all the wires would be pass-through except the (1) wiretap that is coming from the TBC

I wonder what the (ECU) Module does with the Ground and Pin #2 - Bed Lighting, as the TBC -ECU has nothing to do with Bed Lighting.

If you use the alternate procedure and wiretap at the BCM connector for the 3rd Brake Light, you are not using the extra 2 wires anyway.
It does not make sense and complicates the install (and the given instructions) make it worse.
If you are not paying attention to detail, this miss wire can happen)
Thats why it needs simplified so all you need is (Crimping) skills and the patience in removing the trim pieces (not breaking tabs) - slow and gentle is the key

Do you happen to know if there are any issues with, or tricks do undoing the wiring for the connectors? Or can they just be removed and moved around fairly easily? I'll be sending my truck back to the shop on Monday morning.

If memory serves me, you have to pry the piece of the connector that surrounds the pins partially out of the outer shell to release the pins from the connector. It was not easy to do as I remember.

The dealer fixed the issue yesterday. They claimed there was a wire that was loose. Everything appears to be working properly now.
