A resonator is typically used to alter the sound frequency to make it more pleasing. Typically they are designed to cancel out that annoying "low drone" sound of a car exhaust especially like those produced by 4 cylinder engines. Resonators are basically glass packs, which is a perforated straight pipe with an insulation layer wrapped around it then encased in n outer shroud. By design they do not restrict exhaust flow like a chambered muffler does, so removing them only increases/altars the overall exhaust note an engine produces. If you want a louder exhaust removing it will help, but may also introduce that headache inducing drone at freeway speeds. So excuse my stupidity but I'm learningIs the resonator that thing between the muffler and the tailpipe? If so, what is it's function or purpose? Thanks!!!!
