carplay and hvac controls

Do I have to disconnect my phone to disconnect from carplay every time I want to change from vents to floor? I'm not seeing the hvac controls on the screen when I have carplay running.

This is super annoying, and I'm hoping I'm not missing something.

The physical buttons underneath only seem to be for ac/vent/recirculating/temp, but no controls for where to send the air.

No, there's a Sync app button in the App view in Carplay. I know this is the older version of Carplay but the button is still there. Select it and it takes you back to Sync screens.

that's what I needed. I didn't instinctively think it was part of the sync menu so I never bothered to choose it. Thanks for that.
