I have a 2021 Ranger Lariat and I added a RSI cap about a month after I bought the truck.
Since I got the truck the start/stop feature has worked intermediately. Had it in and asked my dealer to disable it. They wouldn't. Last week a new issue popped up. Remote started it, went out, hit the start button and tried to put it on gear and the shift lever was locked. Took three attempts to start it and get it in drive. Happened multiple times so I took it in. Dealer says it's the third brake light on my cap. That's connected with a harness and molex's. Anybody else?

The shifter lockout is enabled by default on the Lariat to prevent the truck from being stolen when the key is not present when remote start is used. Once the truck system is powered (push button) on the shifter lock should be disabled allowing you to shift out of park. If this is not happening then it's possible that the truck is not properly detecting the key is within range.

The only time I have had this happen to me when using remote start is when I am in a hurry and jump in and promptly forget to hit the start button before attempting to shift out of park.
