The pictures solidify my original hypothesis from the old thread. I can't say I've had this happen on the street, but I've definitely seen this a few times on my car. I've since switched to high temp grease on the slide pins and haven't had the problem since. Ford's rear floating calipers aren't exactly high technology. They get the job done, but they are a tad prone to issues.
I regreased with HIGH temp green special grease. :D

This is from one of my stuck caliper pin adventures. The rear pads got so hot they turned white. Didn't notice until I got back in the pits and heard the squeaking and grinding. The outer pad had a little material on it. The inner pad literally fell out when I pulled the wheel off. Inside of the rotors was heavily scored from the backing plate and I cooked the seals in that caliper ended up having to replace it because it wouldn't retract. This all happened in about 20 minutes, so I'd wager a decent drive at highway speeds could probably have a similar effect.

I believe my brake light goes on after the second click while engaging the parking break. i don't know how much pressure that puts on the brakes but i'm leaning heavily towards parking brake was not completely off and there was no light on the dash. do that a few times and the damage builds up quick.

The emergency brake would not eat that inner pad like that. The E brake mechanism squeezes the pads against the rotor in the same manner that the brake pedal does. The only way you get that much excessive wear on the inner pad is if the piston side of the caliper is riding against the rotor and not retracting.

Only way to get excessive wear on one pad is if the caliper slide pins are bond/froze up. Otherwise the caliper will self center.

My 2021 Lariat has a light and a chime warning if the Ebrake is engaged and the truck is shifted out of park. Not gonna admit how I know this!

I'm thinking it either was siezed up or...

...my wife drove the truck 3 weeks ago and I'm wondering if she left the parking brake on while she was out running errands????

i'm not going to ask her, Haahahaha!
She'll play dumb! Just like mine! They will NEVER tell on themselves!

Nothing wrong with that! At least we recognize it immediately and correct it before those above pictures happen to us!
