what tires you have ? talk to me goose
I have Bf Goodrich Ko2, load E. around 40 they are noisey and again about 60. They are balanced fine etc. just noisy tread pattern I guess. They make less noise when warmer it seems like.

i have terra grappler g2 in the 265 70 17 size. ill do a rotation and see what that does. i wouldnt be surprised if it is just the tires getting some wear and singing a bit, so that kinda makes sense. ill go down this rabbit hole next

so i took a 50sq ft case of klimat and did my rear cab wall, floor and where the cubbies are. definitely killed alot of extraneous noise.
still get the rumble! so, i noticed that when i hit bumps in the road i hear the same sounds. exactly same drumming like sound.

i noticed also on some roads it did not do it. leads me to believe it might be my tires. also, sometimes its doesnt do it, which may be temp related.

so it might just be my tires getting worn in starting to sing some. happens at 73 on up it seems.

I'm not sure how your roads are in your area, but where I drive the pavement material is inconsistent.
It can be dead quiet, one mile, then grumbling the next. You can see the surface is different.
The places where tire chains are in high use, it really rips up the surface and the road noise increases 10 fold.

Hopefully the wheel swap helps you narrow down the noise. Sometimes step by step troubleshooting is all you can do.

interesting you say that- some roads im on are normal, some are loud, but all my roads to work are loud (DC metro area)
i figured the wheel swap will help isolate it.

i really dont think its driveline as its smooth as silk through the full highway speed range (55-90) and yeah, some times traffic flows at 80, dc people are nuts.

think slop in a muffler hanger could cause it? right after the flex pipe there is a hanger- and feels like play in it, more than i feel an exaust hanger should have.?

Hi W,

Take it off and evaluate. It is quite unlikely it is an exhaust hanger unless it is causing a ground out of the exhaust on a crossmember or frame component....Exhaust systems have so many resonance modes but a flex coupling helps a ton eliminate modes in the driving range.

Best,
Phil
