This happened yesterday...
Was working in the back yard cleaning it up from the chickens and to plant grass seed and at one point mid morning I pulled the truck forward to open the tailgate to get out the seed and seeding hay, and not thinking I set my keys on the hood of the wife's car not thinking about it.
Few hours later she leaves to go get lunch and didn't see them on the corner of the hood by the A-Pillar...
I realized I miss-placed them during clean-up to go in for supper and spent nearly an hour searching contractor bags full of thorns bushes and other items, dug through the dead loss and cuttings pile at the curb, (4 times) I even grabbed my daughter's metal detector to sweep the yard as I filled in a bunch of holes the chickens had made just in case they fell off my belt loop and got accidentally covered up... Nothing.. No keys..
Then I remembered where I put them...
So I proceeded to walk back and forth down the street all the way to the main road... No sign of them..
So off I go to the hardware store to get a new Kwickset door knob and re-key all the locks. I finally gave up on finding my keys at this point and started looking up replacement fob prices and how to delete the missing key using Forscan... Not liking what I was seeing and figuring I would need to go to the dealership and spend $3-400 on having it re-keyed and a new fob programmed I pulled the fuse to the fuel pump to prevent it from being stolen and went to take a shower..
My wife comes in and in her hand are my keys... one of the people in the neighborhood who walks it 2-3 times a day found them that afternoon and on his evening round hit the lock button whenever he say a Ford in the driveway and saw mine blink then came to the door and gave them to her..
Then this morning I go out start the truck and it started then immediately died... I forgot to replace the fuse... ?
Note to self, DON'T PUT THE KEYS ON THE HOOD OF MY WIFE'S CAR!!!
