After market exhaust questions if anyone can help?

Never bought an aftermarket exhaust before, but I really love the sound of that Borla Type-S. But I'm curious about what I actually have to get vs what's available.

Everywhere I look (Canada) they're selling the entire set up, cat back and it's close to or above $1k for the set up. Is there a reason I can't just buy the muffler itself and pay my local muffler shop $100 to install the thing? Will the noise not be the same as the videos for the Ranger w/the Borla?

And then when I do find just the muffler. It's labelled as a "crate muffler". Is that different from a regular muffler or is that just a reference to it just being the muffler without the pipes?

Without looking at any specs on the Borla you mention, there is this thread that indicates it has been done..but not how. Suggest you PM the poster(s) and ask about it?? Just a thought

PS a search of the forum turns up a bundle of pages on BORLA, might be more info for you.

@FoD thank you for that very much! I tried a few different search phrases and all I ended up with were mostly members debating which sound they prefer and which one to go with.

I didn't think to try searching "weld-in". I'll PM that person and ask how it went.
