I'm eligible for Z Plan (father-in-law is Ford retiree) and on the Ranger I've built that figures to about 2K off MSRP. I'm totally okay with that price but am unsure if any other rebates or incentives can typically be applied with A/Z Plan. Yes, I know there's none out there now and a very slim chance they show up any time soon. First dealer I spoke with made it sound like A/Z Plan price was rock bottom, it is what it is, no haggle on either end, out the door. However, the dealer I'm now working with mentioned that ordering and waiting could mean I get new incentives added that come out before I actually take delivery.

This only matters because I'm on the fence about ordering exactly what I want and having to wait or finding dealer stock that's maybe just missing tow package or bedliner but is local enough to transfer and take now. If A/Z Plan means incentives don't matter than I may be leaning towards finding "close-enough" right now.

The only incentive right now that can be used for the Ranger is the $500 discount for military (retired and active), first responders, etc. Those can be used with those plans.

It is true that you won't have to negotiate with the A/Z plan. But if you do decide to order and wait, you will be able to apply any incentives available at the time of arrival on top of your plan discount

A/Z plan is available with most rebates. As mentioned before, there is a military and first responder. There is also a $500 for recent college grad (3 years from graduation). When you place an order for a vehicle you have the option to lock in any incentives at time of order, which there currently are none, or you are eligible for any when you pick it up. Under all plans most fees are fixed and the dealer is not allowed to add any on. If you are eligible for A plan and decide to buy one on the lot, when you inform the salesperson that you are plan eligible, and they confirm it, they are supposed to show you the invoice that has the price on it.

Not applicable with A/Z or even X and D are special "private cash" offers or PCO's. The best way to tell what rebates are available to you is by having your salesperson run what is called a "SMART VINCENT". it tells you, by address, what rebates you are entitled to. If you have a spouse, by having that persons name on the paperwork, you may also be able to combine any they are eligible for.

My opinion, if you are not in a hurry to get a Ranger, I would special order and get exactly what you want.

Thanks. Just knowing IF incentives can go on top of A/Z in general is what I needed.

Well... This is what has me nervous after reading here how long some people have waited. I have a family road trip planned for July and not having it by then would definitely be no good. At this point with production in full swing could it really take 4 months? I’m only about an hour away from the Assembly Plant so maybe that saves me some delivery time at least!

When you look at the time people are waiting here, keep a few things in mind. The Ranger was never going to be on dealer lots before Jan 1 2019. Some people are including the time from when they ordered, and IIRC, the order banks opened in August or September. Now, a lot of people don't understand that when you special order a new model vehicle, dealer stock is usually built first. Special orders for the most part are not built until OK to buy (OKTB) is achieved, and that only comes after a period of batch and hold. I believe Ford's logic is to work the bugs out with cars that don't have a passionate buyer waiting for it. You also have to keep in mind that MAP was just gutted. It was building a body-on-frame Focus and C-max this time last year. Not only do you have to work bugs out of the equipment, but also the workers and suppliers.

If you really wanted to make sure that an ordered Ranger would be here before July, I would go to the largest dealer in your area. After everything above, Ford's orders are still allocated to dealers based on previous years sales. If the dealer doesn't have allocation, it will have to wait until it does. Anyway, go to the largest dealer in your area and see if they can change an order they already have in the system to meet your requirements. They can also check current orders of trucks in the area. There might be a truck that meets your needs being built for and delivered to another dealer in your area and they may be able to trade for it.

Anyway, good luck. You can't go wrong with a stock unit if it checks all your boxes. My only advice is to not compromise on any option you are passionate about. After awhile you will probably regret settling.

I’m in Dearborn – 15 minutes from the assembly plant – and I should be getting my truck next month (4 months after I ordered). It may still be worth putting a custom order in anyway, and if it’s looking like it won’t be delivered in time, start looking into dealer stock. Some dealers may refund your deposit if they require one – especially if you still purchase from them!

Thank you! This sounds like great advice. Hoping to figure this all out and have an order in by next week.
