Hi all

I’m having some issues with my Ranger, I got a low oil pressure warning, I’ve done an oil change on it and the warning won’t go away after clearing it down, I’ve seen comments about fuse F12 so I’ve got some of those fuses on order ? but then to add insult to injury I now have a screaching noise coming from the front of the engine that I’m thinking might be the viscous fan but I’m here looking for any other ideas that anyone might have ?

Thanks in advance

I wouldn't start it with the low oil pressure. I have read that some Ranger diesel engine's oil pumps lose their prime if the oil is drained for too long of a time. They won't self-prime at start up. You should call your dealer and see what they say.

I've found some info that you can't drain the oil on these engines for more than 10 minutes or the oil pump won't prime itself. If you exceed that time, you have to overfill the engine oil by an additional 2.5 liters of oil to get it to prime, and then drain the excess oil out. Check with your dealer about this.

If the 2.0 has the same wiring circuit as the US 2.3 and you have the Electric Fan Clutch, you are on the right track with - Fuse 12.

If you have it - That circuit also includes the Oil Pressure Control Solenoid, if you reference the threads on the fan clutch or crumbling hose that attaches to it, you will see that the wiring harness gets damaged - at that point (harness routing) to the fan clutch.

So, IF this is the case, you still have oil pressure, just lost the ability for the Variable Control, so the default for that operation = Full Oil Pressure.

So, you have a failed fan clutch or damaged wiring circuit feeding it.
With the noise you have, I am thinking fan clutch, you may try disconnecting the connector to it and see if the oil pressure light / message goes away and inspect the clutch fan and wiring to it.

With that circuit down, you will most likely have the truck in Limp Mode - Reduced Power as well
