Hello,

First post here so I will try to provide as much info as possible. I searched the forum a few times and did not find the answer, so posting.

Vehicle:
2019 Ford RangerXLT SuperCrew
2.3L

Purchased (from a Ford dealer) two years ago for my son to use. Truck has been great for him so far...except for the display screen. 10 months in it went bad and the dealer replaced it. Less than a year later they had to replace it again. Now...11 months later it has gone out again. The dealer sent this in as a lemon claim which Ford denied. The cost to replace from Ford is approx $1,500.00 (Ford offered to cover $600 of that this one time). They said the last one they installed was a replacement for the first fix so the second one does not carry the year warranty (just the initial one).

My problem is...I don't want to keep doing this every year. Is there an aftermarket screen that others have had success with? I know there are known issues with the 2019 screen having problems.

The screen is the the 8" Sync 3 model. Here is a photo of what it looks like when it has booted up:

Any help is appreciated! Thanks!

I'll second the linkswell reccomendation. If I started eating screens that's what I'd gravitate too. However they aren't terribly expensive used. Check LKQ.

The screen is not vehicle specific. You can use a ranger screen in a Mustang and vice versa. Just have to change out to the correct apim.

my guess there is a voltage or wiring problem
Sure appears to be the inputs and not the device. My guess is that any wiring or voltage issues could simply be passed on to an aftermarket screen, yes?

My thought/worry was that it is a wiring or voltage issue. I guess I will go down that rabbit hole! Thank you all for the input and the recommendation for other units...I appreciate it.

One thing to note...each time this has happened it has been after a hot day (say 90+).

Robert,

Are there any aftermarket modifications to the recessed tray on top of the dash or the cubby below the dash controls (phone mounts, wireless charging pads, that kind of thing?). Just wondering if something got nicked or pinched in the process or if a charging pad is covering what seem to be vents in that cubby area.

Did the previous screens have similar issues where the left side was bad?
I'm thinking maybe unit is in a slight bind, and the display screen is being warped or twisted causing separation on the LCD part. Does the touchscreen work?

Nothing aftermarket on it. Everything is stock. The screen apps still respond even when it is blacked out...meaning it still works if you know where the icons.

Yes...they had the same display when they went bad. Not a full black screen, just this weird 1/3 screen.

Yes, the touch screen continues to work...just can't see the icon selection.
