12 volt outlet for breaking system

I need to run a 12 volt power port for my towing break system (RVI3) dose the negative lead from the power port go to the negative battery post or to a chassis ground. I read some were not to go to the battery negative post, but cant find it now. I am getting ready to put a 12 volt power port and the RVI battery charger in my 2020 Ranger Lariat, so I can tow it behind my motor home. I have been using my RVI 3 breaking system for the last 3 years in our jeep and there you went to the negative post, now moving it all over to the ranger.

I used the seat bolt for a ground. As they say....works for me....
