I was watching a video on changing the oil on my 2019 Ranger. It showed removing a skid plate to help keep things from getting messy when draining the oil. My truck, 2WD does not have the skid plate. Is the skid plate only for 4WD or off road applications?

I’ve had my Ranger only a few days, however, on the trip home from picking up the truck from the dealership, 135 mile trip on the interstate at 70mph, the truck delivered a bit over 31mpg!
Thanks Rick, so far I really like the truck. Driving it home from the dealership, 135 miles on the interstate at speed limit, it averaged 31mpg. I assume the low oil pressure light on your truck does not illuminate when the ignition is switched on either?
nope, there is no red oil can light on...
Thanks Motorphycology, but here is a pic of page 53 in my owners manual and also a pic from page 86 on the oil pressure light. First sentence says that the oil pressure light will come on when ignition is switched on.....what do make of that? That certainly doesn’t happen with my truck.
