I did not use any spacers myself. The bracket's pivot-point is slotted allowing you to push the light inward giving you some room for adjustment. I was able to aim the lights as needed by doing so. However, if you need greater angles of adjustment then spacers would be recommended.

Mounted up 4x Diode Dynamics SS3’s last night in the lower grille area with some minor bracket modification (2x SAE Driving and 2x Flood Sports). Wired them to trigger when the high beams are engaged.
They are centered vertically and have plenty of room for adjustment.
