I've been extremely happy with 5 Star's "Lone Ranger" tune. According to them it's about "80% of their 'daily' tunes" but is octane adaptive so you don't have to run any particular grade of fuel. It feels better without being overly aggressive. I could get more by switching to an (insert octane...
Tagging @FULLSCALE since he asked for an update on this.
Installed the Turbosmart Dual Port BOV yesterday. Install was (as expected) a quick and painless process. As far as the BOV venting noise is concerned--I'm really quite pleased. I hear it from time to time during normal driving, but it is...
I installed it and drove around the block. I would say half-throttle or more is going to get an audible "whoosh" when you let up. Very casual driving? Probably not. I've driven the truck for less than a mile since the install though. I have a 50 mile commute to work tomorrow, so I'll post a...
Received and installed my Turbosmart Dual Port BOV. Super easy install. I'm not sure I'll keep it installed. It depends on how annoyed I get by the venting noise over time. I thought it might be fun for a bit anyway.
I took mine out with 18 miles on the odometer for a 15 mile trip across the mountain. I was pretty impressed with the handling. I'm used to having a front locker available but had no issues without it. It's plenty capable for anything I'm going to take a new truck through.
I did end up with...
Thanks Phil. These minor things really don't bother me, but they do make me think about other types of buyers. As an example, my mom or grandmother wouldn't whack a panel with their hand to put it in place or give the engine bay a quick inspection after delivery.
I noticed a couple of relatively minor fit/finish issues with my truck.
1. The negative battery terminal was not tightly secured (very loose nut). Easy fix.
2. The driver's lower dash panel (below the steering wheel) was not clipped in all the way. The bottom-left clip was not clipped in at...
I got my ngauge tuner yesterday and received my custom tunes today. I started with a flash of the "Lone Ranger" tune. What a difference! It's like driving a different truck. The throttle response is 100% better and the transmissions doesn't feel like it is lost (or asleep) at times. The truck...
Oh, I don't actually drive either of those Jeeps. That would mean I'd have to actually get one of them in running condition. Those are just my two excuses to go spend time in the garage and drink beer.
Got mine and installed them today (red). I didn't use the tape anywhere as it didn't seem to be necessary. I really wish these included a piece for the top of the dash also, but I'm guessing since that surface isn't totally flat it would be a bit more of a challenge to make. I'm happy with them...
I'd be interested in seeing performance numbers on the "lone ranger" tune myself, but all I have been able to find about it is that it is an adaptive-octane tune (87-93). It sounds like a "set it and forget it" tune with some benefits but likely not the same level of performance as the dedicated...
