Update,
I traded the truck in on a Jeep Gladiator. The HVAC blend door problem reintroduced itself after about 6 months and I simply had enough. Actuator and eccentric popped off the blend door lever, even though the actuator was still affixed tightly.
Even broken, it held its resale value...

Agreed, quality spacers, with quality hardware/lugs/fasteners, when installed with care, are likely safe in all but the most extreme situations.
But, the CDC reported that 4% of Americans drank or gargled bleach without dying in 2020. However, just because they didn't die, doesn't make...
FWIW, I read on the Toyota forum that if you add urine to the fuel tank, the urea is liberated during combustion and adds about 50HP. The urea injection is what give the modern diesel trucks so much power, right? 50 additional wheel HP on a stock tune is most definitely possible with urine in...
Yeah, I too doubt it was the hub-bearing assembly that let go. Were it 4WD, the CV axle and nut would have held it together. If it were 2WD, the noise would have been horrendous for a looong time prior to failure. My money is that the man-boy failed his lugs or spacer assembly.
I'd like to...
We are overlooking a key fact here. It was a Tacoma and they are legendarily overrated and frail.
It most likely would have never happened were it not for the prepubescent-minded driver and their odd fascination with destroying the handling and off road characteristics of an already...
Congrats on the miles accumulation. I have averaged 20.5 winter fuel blend, 23.5 summer fuel blend over the past ~59k. I managed 26.7 mpg hand calc'ed one time before, pussyfooting it and driving 65mph.
Good luck on the next 100k.
So to answer the OP's question:
If you were to use the standard 9.6oz cans of WD-40, it would take exactly 20.66 cans to fill the crankcase to the specified 6.2 qts --quick mafs.
Whatever you do, DO NOT pour the remaining 33% (3.168oz) of the final 21st WD-40 can into the engine. Pray to...
Very true, except many of us have actually experienced a funny 10r80 and even ridden in another 10r80 vehicle with similar quirks. And a few of us have even seen they can be mostly fixed.
As for "Fuel in my oil" well, oh, yeah, so, you know... "I believe her" but I'm still waiting to see a...
I think this may be the distinction that's critical. My transmission shift logic is completely different now. I believe they changed the actual program logic, not just perform a reset/relearn routine using the original shift logic.
I agree the original logic is trash and would be an...
The best part of oil threads, is how they spiral out of control so quickly. It's more contentious that politics and religion. Thankfully, smart people can read through the noise and gather some good data to make their own choices. If we can mildly entertain them during the process --mission...
Even more remotely possible, may be a leaking brazed plate HX for the transmission. You may see this leaking externally, at the transmission bellhousing area under the truck, or it could perhaps be leaking into the transmission. Not likely, but possible. The fluid is tough to check due to the...
Yeah, I also agree. Who is the miscreant that's going around telling everyone to overfill their engines with as much oil as possible? Wow, are they really also saying to use as high a viscosity oil as they can possibly find?
Tell me who it is and I'll help you guys levy a personal attack...
No TSB or other info provided by the Dealer. Parts were in stock. Very small dealer, so I found this odd. This tells me Ford is very aware of the issue, but because it does not wear the transmission out under warranty, or significantly in the aggregate, Ford is electing to suppress the...
Genuine improvement.
I took my 2020 XL STX FX4 CC to Ford at 59k to have the trans reviewed before warranty expired.
I noted harsh shifting as my concern. Dealer said the valve body needed to be replaced, however the warranty receipt only shows “rebuilt” with new gaskets, seals and (2)...
Frenchy, do you actually believe 0.8 quarts is an example of our engines being meaningfully overfilled? Any objective evidence for this? Do you know how to test or validate what you are insinuating to be a deadly, dangerous, and irresponsible condition? Please share your expertise with the forum.
FWIW, Took my Ranger in last week for a warranty review of the trans, for poor shift behavior. 59k. They said they needed to replace the valve body. The receipt shows they DID NOT actually replace the VB but did replace the separator plates and a few assorted gaskets/seals. They also updated the...
