It actually seems to act like some weird version of a jake brake, using the gearing and motor to slow the vehicle down hills. It also changes how it shifts and such.
Well we made it. Friday was wet and stormy with very high winds, so I towed slow to fight the cross winds. Took me a bit longer to get to the campsite but the truck did well. Only had one crazy 18 wheeler pass me in a rainstorm doing about 80 and that got real sporty for a moment, but the truck...
The Ranger will tow it, just take enough time that you don't have to try and speed. Keep an eye on big trucks and that pressure wave.
I am still going to add a set of air bags to take up a little bounce, cause that worries me no matter what truck I'm driving.
That's a nice trailer, very similar...
The airbags in this situation will be supplemental because the truck didn’t hardly squat at all. They are more for “bounce” when you hit a rough patch or a bridge seam that causes the truck/trailer combo to shift and bounce on the hinge point at the hitch. When that happens, it lightens the...
If you want flush with the flares, go with 25 positive offset. These are 34 positive and kept them where I wanted, just inside the flares. I drive a lot of gravel roads and didn’t want to sling gravel up the side and ruin the paint
It wasn’t a terrible difference, just different. I could feel the stiffness in the front vs. the rear because of the angle change. It’s not bad, I just really noticed a change to smoother ride once I put the lift on it. Now all that changed once I put those 10 ply’s on it. Now it rides like a...
No worries,,,Rough day and pre-bourbon response. I was so spun up the day it happened I didn’t take pics, just a few videos on the roadside and as I put it back together.
It’s not a level, it’s the ReadyLift 3”SST lift. The back basically dropped to level, but I had a anti-sway leveling hitch for the RV. Gonna add airbags as soon as someone puts some on the market.
When I move the RV this weekend I will try and remember to take pics and measurements for ya’ll...
It’s an Outback Ultra-Lite by Keystone, a tad over 6,100 lbs dry. It pulled well. The truck never knew it was there except for cross winds and big truck pressure waves. I won’t be pulling it fast but I will pull it often.
The truck is hooked to it in that photo
It was a struggle swapping the top on the strut, but the removal and install were super easy. Well, the second one was super easy, the first one involved learning the process and practicing my patience mantra,,,,my patience mantra is a string of 4 letter words, BTW
Those fuels will look great. They might be just a tad outside the factory wheel well, but just enough to look tough without looking like a “roller rink refugee”
Pics of the lift, or the problem with the leveling kit? I have pics of the lift and a video of the level issues with the Nyloc nut coming loose. Not sure if the video will upload but I will try. It’s not very educational, mostly just me being p*#^ed.
The video is apparently too big for the site...
Haven’t found a book yet. Whichever kit you get will come with specs although I did notice that they change company to company. Example, RoughCountry spec’s the tie-rod nuts at 35 ft. lbs. and ReadyLift spec’d the at 45 ft. lbs.
ReadyLift spec’d the rear U-bolts at 110 ft. lbs.
