  1. Ford Ranger - long term reliability

I have about 75k on my 2019 XLT. Mostly commuting miles, but a fair amount of road trips and offroading as well. I do regular maintenance. My oil changes have been closer to 10k than 5k with no issues. Just changed my spark plugs a couple thousand miles ago. Have flushed drivetrain fluids after...
  2. Need a left side CV axle

I wish I could contribute something to your thread, but I will tag along and see how this goes for you. Rock Auto shows the same part numbers between 2019 and 2020. BUT only available in XL/XLT like you said.
  3. Normal Mileage for Factory Brake Pads?

What kind of mileage are you all seeing on the factory brake pads? I am about to turn 74k miles with the original pads. I have always been easy on my brake pads in anything I have driven, but I wanted to know if this many miles is common. My last pad inspection was on a reallignment and rotation...
  4. My 2021 Ranger with 1620 miles sits on side of road waiting for tow truck!

Haha, yes. In fact, I should be working on an airbox to work with my snorkel in the next couple weeks. And I just ordered a spare alternator for a trip back to the trail that killed my alternator the first time!
  5. My 2021 Ranger with 1620 miles sits on side of road waiting for tow truck!

OP--I'm glad it got towed and is getting handled. When mine died, I was near Clarksville, Arkansas, and I live in Florida. Ford had zero alternators available at the time. So I had to get a ride to KC, fly home, procure a new alternator (first one I found seized--second had a broken connector...
  6. My 2021 Ranger with 1620 miles sits on side of road waiting for tow truck!

Did you drive through any deep water? Just water shouldn't kill an alternator, but I have had it happen. Thankfully I was still able to drive it about 25 miles to the nearest town (it got dicey towards the end). Yours dying that fast likely means there are other problems beside the alternator...
  7. Installed a Snorkel (sort of)

To elaborate... I did the High Water Mark Trail in Arkansas with some friends last December. It was a lot of fun, but it was raining/sleeting/snowing the entire time. We did a bunch of water crossings without issue. I did my best to avoid any significant mud because I was worried about the...
  8. Installed a Snorkel (sort of)

Basically I hit the water way too hard is my theory. I’m busy right now, but I’ll post a more detailed explanation with pictures when I can. It was super deep.
  9. New ARB Skid Plate

I apologize. I mean where the ARB front skid plate mates to the ARB bumper.
  10. New ARB Skid Plate

Mine is one that died. On the High Watermark Trail last December. I will say the plates SHOULD do a solid job of seriously reducing what is launched up into the alternator, but they obviously will not prevent you from dunking your alternator entirely. I believe these plates make surviving water...
  11. New ARB Skid Plate

Yeah my plates came in right when they said they would. From Stage3.
  12. New ARB Skid Plate

Can you post a picture of how the interface to the ARB bumper looks?
  13. Installed a Snorkel (sort of)

That's a really good idea and one I thought of, too. My friend REALLY wants to make a box, though, and he is really good at this stuff, so I figured having a custom fabricated airbox would be neat.
  14. Installed a Snorkel (sort of)

Support bracket used the channel liner bolt hole in the roof, but we had to make a really short bracket to attach the snorkel to the first bracket. If that makes sense. This is what the fender looked like on the outside (plus one bolt hole on the bottom that isn’t there in this pic). Also made...
  15. Installed a Snorkel (sort of)

Oh I agree. I killed my alternator last December on the HWM trail. That’s why I’m bringing a spare on the next trip. It’s very frustrating because the truck is silly capable otherwise.
  16. Installed a Snorkel (sort of)

I’ll take progress pictures as we make it. Biggest concern is the bung for the IAT. Probably won’t be working on it for another month though.
  17. Installed a Snorkel (sort of)

Hoping the ARB plates prevent a considerable percentage of the stuff being flung up into the engine bay. Otherwise will be dielectric greasing what I can and am bringing a spare alternator on the trip...
  18. Installed a Snorkel (sort of)

I have a trip back to the high watermark trail in Arkansas in December. After the last trip it was very clear that I didn’t ingest water out of pure luck. So I wanted a snorkel before December. I didn’t want the ARB snorkel and didn’t want to wait for any of the others still in the works. I...
  19. New ARB Skid Plate

Oh wow--I misunderstood your original question. Yeah--I would call ARB and see what they have to say.
  20. New ARB Skid Plate

Looks identical to mine. It all lines up—the instructions are just hot garbage. I’m sorry I can’t remember exactly what I did for that plate.
