I've been happy with the hardwire setup. I tapped fuse 29 for mine.

Spot on, no insulation on headliner. Ran rear dashcam wiring and at least there's a half inch of dead space, not a glued on headliner like the old days!
I'd also love insulation in the cab - here in New England it would help with the cold.
I see a handful of folks here add that acoustic stuff...
