I have a REDARC Liberty but haven't installed it yet. After much reading here and watching a zillion videos, it seemed like a good one for my light towing needs (light as in just a few times a year, but we'd like to get a travel trailer at some point).
I like the idea of the physical switch and...
It's our poorly engineered bed rake, that @$$ end acts like a parachute! =p
I guess the truck sees our removal of gas pedal pressure, while in Drive, as a desire to slow down and starts engine braking?
Ahh, that makes sense to me now, thanks airline tech. In terms I understand, I think of my old Land Cruiser and anytime the engine is spinning, the alternator is able to charge. Downshifting has the drivetrain "pushing" the engine to higher revs, thus more amperage can come from the alternator...
Ugh, I'm so confused. I see lots of mentions of regenerative charging when the Ranger is coasting and braking. But isn't that only possible with electric and hybrid vehicles that have electric drive motors?
I don't understand how a gas-powered truck can generate electrify with braking, unless...
Man we need to do this over a pitcher! Those sound like awesome cars!
Those shocks were wild with their tiny twin cylinders. I honed them and, if I remember, rebuilt them with an upgrade kit.
The oil gauge tube* fitting was seized into the engine block and I spent two evenings, with a small...
I hear ya. I never raced but I restored a 1959 MGA. Pulled the body off, had the frame dipped, blah, blah, blah (ah, to be 21 again!). =)
It was built as light as they knew to back in the day - aluminium door skins w/o handles (you reached inside and pulled a cable to open) and no side windows...
Finally changed out Soupie's nuts. Now we're beefier! =D
New nuts are 6.2% heavier!
Old one nut average: 46.9 grams (1.7 ounces)
New one nut average: 49.9 gm (1.76 oz)
single piece Dorman nuts (only 20 for weighing purposes)
2-piece OEM nuts
Great, now Greta's gonna hate on Soupie and the...
I'm with you - I doubt any spray/smell stuff works. I douse my engine in spearmint oil and it's like driving in a tube of toothpaste for a few days. I still do it, but I doubt much, if any, desired effect occurs. I also use those balsam bags that are soaked with spearmint and place those under...
You can semi-permanently do this with a McGard anti-theft lock. It would be some work to remove your tailgate with awkward reaching and angles with a ratchet. But It won't lift out with it on.
My install...
Having spent years in a metal fabrication shop (not professionally, but as a friend), I welded up a 16' trailer with double axles to haul my John Deere, made lots of repairs to fifth wheels, and lots of little projects. Like fabricating a two-person platform hanging off the front of a...
Love it and thanks for sharing this! =)
You're right, we tend to post about a broken this, a crooked that, but that means this truck gets used a lot. For every issue, there are miles and miles of great adventure, even if it's juststepping out to get milk!
Man, I lucked out. We have an old Stanley that was manufactured before 1992 and it connected right up with my wife's 2022 Mazda CX-5. Talk about lucky!
Isn't there some sort of module to do a retrofit? Like this HomeLink Compatibility Bridge for LiftMaster and Chamberlain (post-2011) garage...
Old post with no answer?
I didn't see an answer to the OP's post and stumbled across this thread doing a search. On my XL with 16" steel wheels, the plastic center hub caps are held on with the lug nuts. Loosen each a little and it'll wiggle off.
Small tabs just lightly get pinched by the lug...
I believe the spare steelie isn't the same gauge as the road rims. Though they look identical - at least on the '22 XL with 16" steel wheels:
KB3Z-1015-C 28.75 pounds
KB3Z-1015-D 29.5 pounds
Not retired yet! Gonna go to 70 unless they can me. My wife worked to 72, so I can only dream of retiring early and doing daily dump runs.
Well .. at least I have something to look forward to. =D
Hmm, and you bsr956 just sparked a new endeavor for me. If I want to spend my days doing dump...
Sometimes I can't attach pics I borrow via Chrome - makes many into some format I don't understand. But if I get that same pic via Edge, it'll usually post in. That's for copy and paste from the web.
Otherwise, I can post from my phone as someone mentioned above and, on my main PC, I download...
If you might be able to tighten the springs, could it possible to swap them for a thicker gauge spring?
I doubt tightening would give the best results, maybe for a short time. Ideally, thicker springs would provide more support and still have a similar range of springiness.
LOL, you know far...
It was a great chair for nearly 20 years and I used that "leather" tape stuff to make it last a bit longer. The springs were shot and I had two gel foam things shoved under the cushion as well as a piece of corrugated plastic.
I have really horrible sleep apnea (as opposed to good apnea) and I...
