  1. Full size 18" Steel Wheel for Spare Info

I would look on eBay for an 18” wheel that matches the other four. Craigslist and Facebook Market are possibles, but eBay is quick and easy. I have five matching 17” alloy wheels, all with TPMS sensors, and rotate all five. For winter, I am using directional snow tires, so I just carry the...
  2. Full size 18" Steel Wheel for Spare Info

As far as I know, steel wheels are 16” and 17”, with the 16” much more common. What do you have for a spare now?
  3. Buy a Ranger now while having Ranger on order (Crazy?)

In nearly every case, you lose when you buy, and you lose when you sell. The dealer has to make a profit, and it is coming from your bank account. Two purchases and a sale are almost certainly going to be more expensive than a single purchase. In normal times, I would try to rent or lease a...

  5. ? 2022 Bronco Raptor Officially Revealed!

Detroit Free Press says $68,500 base price. Out of my range, for sure.
  6. Help…Help… Leather Rip!!!

I’m sure it was more expensive to have him come to my house, but it saved us hours of running around, dropping off and picking up the car, etc. Your repair might be easier because of the black color. My CR-V seats are light gray, and required a bit of time and experimentation to color-match...
  7. Help…Help… Leather Rip!!!

It was about $200. Pre-COVID, so maybe a bit more now.
  8. Help…Help… Leather Rip!!!

i watched the guy do my Honda. There’s no way you could buy his tools for what it cost to repair the 4” slice in my seat.
  9. Help…Help… Leather Rip!!!

Every car dealer in the country has a source for leather repair. The guy came to my house and fixed a cut in my Honda seat. Very reasonable, and nearly invisible.
  10. Doors don't close easily

This is a recurring problem on some cars. My experience is mostly with Volkswagens. The cabin air vents do not release pressure quickly enough for the doors to close smoothly. They will actually bounce back open if not fully latched. The Ranger has large air vents on the rear wall of the cab...
  11. Puncture resistance of various 4-ply tires

Two quick explanations of the origins of tire ply ratings https://www.lesschwab.com/article/tire-ply-ratings.html https://www.tirebuyer.com/education/tire-ply-rating
  12. Puncture resistance of various 4-ply tires

The number of plies doesn’t relate to “toughness,” only an antiquated standard for load-carrying capacity.
  13. Winter Sminter

I my teen years (late 1970s) I worked at a bicycle shop in the Chicago area. Our shop truck was a 2WD Ford pickup. We never had snow tires. At the first significant snowfall after Christmas, we would have the bucket loader operator who cleared the parking lot fill the pickup bed with snow...
  14. Increased payload capacity for camper.

Nice. Another example that reinforces my belief that Ford copied and pasted content from other manuals and did a poor job editing, if they made any attempt at all, for the Ranger.
  15. Need understanding?

Lockers add weight, complexity, and cost. Lots of components need to be upgraded for the additional stress.
  16. Increased payload capacity for camper.

2020 owners manual, page 224: When Towing a Trailer • Do not drive faster than 70 mph (113 km/h) during the first 500 mi (800 km).
  17. Is there any disadvantage to a SuperCab?

If you care at all, I don’t think you can get the the B&O sound system (if it’s even available with XLT) in the SuperCab. Having seen one recently, I would order with the rear seat deleted.
  18. Seen at a local Ford dealer yesterday

Before Enzo died, I had an opportunity to buy a Ferrari Dino for $40k. Sometimes I wish I had jumped on it, but it would break my heart to have it sit in the garage (or my living room a la Ferris Beuller) for fear of damaging it beyond my ability to repair. I’d rather have something cobbled...
  19. Dash Rattle, Help!

A recurring rattle drove me nuts for months before I removed everything that could be removed from the cab. It was my eyeglasses, in the overhead storage. It’s very difficult to determine the direction of a sound like this. Removing everything, and enlisting the help of a passenger (or driver)...
  20. Gear indicator.. new?

My son works at a large Toyota dealer. He is a car enthusiast, an affliction inherited from me. When I retired, I pondered whether selling cars would be a good use of my time, combining something that I love with a paycheck. He didn't even hesitate, "Dad, car sales people don't know much, if...
