I think about getting a brush guard almost every day to act as a deer swatter. Lots and lots of deer here in Oregon. I hit a deer in the Santa Cruz CA hills in my 1959 Volvo and spun out in the process.
I understand your concern, but my wife totaled my old car and so I needed a new one (new car, not new wife) and got a 2021. Luckily, I don't have the myriad of issues I see in the forum on mine. My body panels are fit properly, no driveshaft vibrations, shifting is smooth enough, fuel economy is...
Yup, I turn 65 this month. When I first bought my Ranger I was wondering if I was having a midlife crisis, but this forum assured me I was in good company. I have yet to get a speeding ticket in it, but sport mode is highly addictive.
I would still get a quality charger that has an AGM mode. The BMS sensor doesn't do much of anything to control charging unless the truck is running. I am looking at the NOCO 5 amp charger/conditioner that I can mount inside the engine compartment. It is ~ $70.
I have been seeing one or two Rangers each time on my 200 mile round trip to Vancouver and back lately. I also notice a lot of Tesla's because they are always cutting me off.
Congratulations Phil! I won't be retiring until i hit 70 in 5 years to max the Social Security. Luckily, I actually like my job and can work remotely from home most of the time. Have been writing tool control software for a high volume manufacturing FAB.
Yup, the top of the sensor is where you can connect and have the sensor read the charging current. Right below goes to the battery terminal and will bypass the sensor.
Using the body ground guarantees that you have the charger ground on the input side of the BMS sensor and thus get an accurate estimate of battery state of charge (SOC) in the BMS system. Putting the ground directly on the terminal will still charge the battery perfectly fine, but the "smart"...
I finally got around to playing with FORScan, had to get the free extended licence first. I am using the ODBLink EX cable and it worked flawlessly.
1. Set SOC to 85%, was 75% as built ( I see people report theirs at 70%, maybe Ford adjusted for 2021)
2. Turned off the fake engine sound
3...
For those with the CTEK, can I mount the charger in the engine compartment and have the AC plug dangle out the front grill? I have to park outside and don't want the charger in the rain.
Like most, every 5K or 6 months. I do see my oil level slowly rise from fuel dilution since I do mostly short trips and the oil doesn't heat up long enough to boil it off. I recently did a 5k round trip from Oregon to Ohio and back and did 1000 miles a day at 70+ mph. The oil looked perfect, but...
I have been using the Supertech ST3614, seems to hold up well for my 3k-5k oil change intervals. Hopefully I am not making a mistake by going so cheap.
