  1. Stupid question about tongue weight

@Grumpaw In the Trailer Tow Package the hitch receiver is listed as a Class IV, at least for the 2021. Even so the manual states that the max weights for the the Ranger are 750TW and 7,500 towing.
  2. Long term reliability of the 2.3

Could still be a driving style issue, some "hyper miler" types will shift way too early and actually lug the engine and stress the rings. That could lead to oil consumption issues over time. Again, I'm curious to the failure reason of any engine, and I don't leave out operator habits. I like my...
  3. Dealership adjusted my tire pressure.

Would this have been a Firestone engineer when the Explorers were rolling? You just gotta corner faster to even the wear.
  4. Long term reliability of the 2.3

jeez, I didn't mean to ruffle your brand loyalty feathers. It was more about I've also seen trans coolers fail, but I've never seen the oil cooler of that design on a car fail. The brand/model info was just for information as those are the ones I've experienced. No Honda of mine burnt oil at...
  5. Long term reliability of the 2.3

My disagreement with that is that there is no way that a simple stock mistake goes on for over a year, RS engines were build from about Nov/Dec of 2015 through June/July of 2017 with the wrong gasket. I could see a batch of engines having the mistake. Also, when they recalled them why did they...
  6. Long term reliability of the 2.3

My mom's old Explorer had issues with the trans-cooler in the radiator. When you pop the over flowing over flow reservoir cap and it looks like a strawberry shake, there is a problem. Odd thing is my 86 Civic Si is well, old and the OE sandwich style oil cooler with a couple nipples on it for...
  7. Long term reliability of the 2.3

As an owner of this car the early problems were 100% (in my opinion) Ford finding an error with the original head gasket and just using other stock (non-RS 2.3 head gasket) that was "close enough" so they could get them to dealers in the advertised time frame. None of the early production RS...
  8. New Members Introduce Yourself!

I think the Black appearance package I liked required XLT trim at a minimum. XLT has the same crap lights as best as I can tell so I'm thinking about AlphaRex LED lights, but hung up on the unneeded extra amber side marker. I'm just not a fan of adding an extra reflector that is not needed, now...

Looks like you do as well! I was really thinking about the blue, but the Orange just looked a little better to me. Like a road side service truck, but with metallic.
  10. Eastern NC (Goldsboro and surrounding area)

I'm in Eastern NC, and while my truck is 4x4 model I got it more for towing than playing. I'm into trails on my mtb though. Once I get the mud flaps I'm not against mild (unpaved road) driving, maybe a beach run, with a long carwash after.
  11. New Members Introduce Yourself!

Well, I'm new here. Just bought my first truck. Needing to pull a trailer for race club and been wanting a truck that could pull an open trailer with my old "racecar", and if the trailer is light enough maybe the RS too, on it from time to time. I think the build date on this was Oct 18th if I'm...
