I did that, but could only find people talking about it as an option, no one with first hand experience. But maybe my Google-fu could use some refinement.
I've seen it talked about, but has anyone had the Long Range America fuel tank installed?

I'm considering springing for the upgrade but am looking for some first hand accounts, my big tires, tune, and other mods...
Realistically modern engines don't fail. The rest of the vehicle rots away, or becomes economically unviable LONG, LONG before the engine would have a catastrophic failure. And of those catastrophic failures those caused by the oil being changed at the manufacturers recommendation rather than...
Based on what exactly? Your 'feeling'?
Hundreds of engineers at automakers, oil manufacturers and little tiny independent agencies you might not have heard of like I dunno ASME and SAE have all found that with properly rated and certified oils like SN+, you are just fine running to 10k miles...
Alright, I'm feeling feisty today so it's time to start an internet fight.
Some of y'all go completely overboard on fluid changes, like completely bonkers. As if changing fluids on your 5G ranger is your only hobby or passion.
The overkill I've heard:
Trans fluid change/flush every 10k miles...
How many more times more capable is your 5G ranger than your 4G ranger? How many more systems exist? How much more comfortable? Yeah modern vehicles are more complicated. They're also a hell of a lot safer and more capable than older vehicles. Complexity is the price you pay for capability...
It's selection bias. Ford has sold over half a million 5g rangers. Half. a. million. People that show up to the forum more often than not will be here because of an issue. The other 99.99% of owners that aren't obsessed freaks that have reliable trucks, don't come here and you will never hear...
Engine is in!... well mostly. I ran out of time today to finish this up. But since my last post I had to build a couple iterations of adapters to get the shift lever installed for the transfer case. I also had to reconfigure and mess with the linkage for a while due to updated geometry. But...
Is this going to be a pavement princess? If not there is no way the stock ranger axle can handle a 40" tire with any real world usage. You'll need to throw a Dana 60 on the rear end, or maaaaybe you can get away with some chromeoly half shafts.
As for the front end I think you'll have to make...
Excellent question.
Transmission - same length
Adapter - 8"
Engine - 8" shorter.
The front of crank pulley will be in the exact same spot as the V8 and I will be re-using the factory mounting points for the LT230 Tcase.
So the good news is that our Ranger has probably the most common rear axle on the planet. A Dana 44 is used in most every vehicle of this size. If you want to dig around YouTube I'm sure there are plenty of good tutorials on rebuilding this diff. If you wanted to be fancy now would be a good...
Great write-up thanks! FYI Ford recommends replacing the boot at the same time as the spark plug. It's very easy to do and I would agree. With nearly 150hp per Liter... that's tough on the ignition system so I wouldn't neglect it.
