The charging system in the Ranger runs between 14.4 and 15.0 volts. It will drop down to the low 13s when it senses a fully charged battery to improve fuel economy by not loading the engine as much. Not sure how this plays into charging the battery(s) on your trailer.
I typically keep vehicles 7 to 10 years before moving on. I like my Ranger and have no plans to trade it for a 6G. In 7 to 10 years who knows what will be available.
FWIW, I had three Dodge Dakotas over the past 30 years which I put almost 600,000 miles on combined. When it was time to move on...
Not sure why you would call it a "wonderful elixir" anything higher than E15 can only be used in flex fuel vehicles safely, the Ranger is not. I suppose you could have a custom tune that would richen up the mixture to make E30 safe to run but then you would be overly rich if you put E10 or E0 in...
Whether you have a catch can or not in off boost conditions the fumes are drawn from the crank case via a vacuum port on the intake manifold. None of the mess flows through the turbo or intercooler.
Whether you have a catch can or not under boost conditions the PCV valve closes and prevents...
I live south east of Boston and 93 is over $1 more than 87. 89 octane is a mix of 87 and 93 blended in the pump. The price should be less than 1/2 the difference between 87 and 93 but in my area it is about 80% of the cost of 93.
When premium topped $4 last year I switched to 87 and put an 87...
Every 4 cycle internal combustion engine will make the most power when maximum cylinder pressure occurs approximately 20 degrees after top dead center (the actual timing is going to be dependent on the particular engine).
To obtain the max cylinder pressure at the right time the spark has to be...
Between normal spec variations being on the large side, bulging of the plastic due to the weight of the fuel and the capacity of the filler neck being able put in .62 additional gallons of gas does not seem out of line to me.
He had the truck for about two weeks and the battery was dead one morning when he went to start it. He jumped it and went about his business and two days later it was dead again. This time he called the dealer and they told him to bring it in so he jumped it and brought it in. They supposedly...
Friend of mine leased a 22 Pro4X in the spring of 22. Real nice truck and if it had been available when I bought my Ranger it would have gotten serious consideration. He actually got better around town gas mileage than I do with the Ranger and it doesn't feel like it is any less powerful.
Last...
FWIW, I have been driving turbo 4cyl cars as my daily drivers since 1985. All of them have been tuned. I have either gotten the same or better mileage with all of them. Also, I have never used a tune that was specifically designed for improved mileage.
When you tune a vehicle the new found...
Wife and I have been talking about getting a camper for some time but have not been sure we would use it enough to justify the expense. I ran across a 17' Skyline for a price that I can justify and picked it up yesterday.
FWIW, the 10 speed tranny DOES NOT adapt to the drivers driving style. It adapts to how to it's own unique characteristics. Most automatics since the early 2000s have had this type adapting algorithm.
Below is the learn process for the tranny in the FSM.
I live in south eastern Massachusetts and have traveled and worked all over the country and there is no place I would rather live. I am on a pond, 10 minutes from the ocean, 45 minutes to Boston and a couple of hours to the mountains. It seldom goes over 95 in the summer or below 20 in the...
Both my Ranger and my wife's Jeep have them and they drive me nuts. They are never wiping at an appropriate rate, either to fast or to slow. The sensor is looking at such a small section of the windshield it is impossible for them to assess how much rain is falling. I find my self constantly...
As far as I am concerned dealers should be allowed to sell their vehicles for whatever the market will bear. As the acronym states MSRP is the "suggested" price, it's not fixed.
In a buyer's market the consumer will be able to purchase for less than MSRP, in a seller's market the consumer will...
I typically buy Meguire's or Mother's products. I especially like the Tech Wax 2.0 previously mentioned. It has enough abrasives to act like a cleaner wax but it is a synthetic sealant.
I did buy a bottle of 303 Graphene based on a recommendation from this site. I can right over the Tremor...
FWIW, I had two Motorcraft FL910S filters leak back to back on my Ecoboost Mustang.
When I see a good price on filters I will buy a 1/2 dozen or so. I changed the oil on the Mustang and the next day I noticed oil on the driveway, when I put the car up on my lift the oil was coming from the...
