What tires are you running? The old hankooks are decent for grip but I don’t think so great on washboards. I would suggest upgrading to a bigger size and more aggressive. Maybe a c rated tire and definitely let some air out.
Just the 2wd part. I have great ground clearance and rear locker. My truck is more of a desert runner:tumbleweed: . I do love Hungry Valley, been there 3 times and your right. A lot of it can be done in 2wd.
Update:
Added a full size spare today. 17” 8.5 Method 305 NV 0 offset (used as a spare for $200) with a KO2 33” Got it used but never driven for $150.
The straps are temporary till my Y strap comes in.

I need one Method wheel. Any style is fine but need 17” O offset 6x5.5 or 6 x 139.7 Using for a spare. Can have tire with or without it.(if with tire, need 285/70/17) Let me know what you got! Prefer pick up. SoCal area.
It would be close to the fog light. The issue with me is, since I have a long travel front end it looks like the tire will hit at compression since I’m still running stock bumper
Honestly, I am not too sure. Stock wheel width is 7.5 to 8”. That’s almost 3 inches wider than the wheel. You could probably do a aftermarket wheel with similar offset to stock.
What I suggest is just keep searching for a wheel/tire combo on someone’s truck that you like and see how it worked...
Build Update
I have the tires and wheels installed now. So the front end is complete as of now. Will eventually get a bumper, limit straps, bypasses in the near future. But as of now, I’m very happy with the way it looks. I won’t be color matching the fenders just in case I decide to change to...
*All four wheels and tires*
I’m selling my General Grabbers ATX with Ford Magnetic Sport Wheels. Tire size is 265/70/17 (32s) and wheels are 6x139.7 or 6x5.5in. The wheels have a hub bore of 93.1mm. Tires were purchased 8/21 and have less than 5,000 miles. There is a DOT stamp in the picture...
Like others have said, it depends on what your goals are.
For staters, usually a leveling kit (2.0 coilover) and around 2” of lift will clear a nice 265/70/17 (small 32”) And eliminate rake. Generally, no modifications to crash bars and trimming.
Moderate upgrade would be like a 2.5 coilover...
First, they are the ford performance foxs 2.0, so it is tuned to our Rangers and not the standard fox 2.0 that works for most vehicles. Second, it’s to level the front of the truck with the rear. There is a lot of stock rake on our Rangers.
Stage 3 Motorsports confirmed the fitment. I was a...
Note:
Like others have said. You CAN remove crash bars without cutting them. At least the rears. However though, I have fiberglass so it was a lot easier to remove the fenders at the bottom.
Build Update:
Fenders installed by Drew’s Fabrication.
Picture quality might not be the best. It was taken by the shop. I screenshot it from their Instagram.
The 35s I think will need to have crash bars removed. It might fit with the bars in but at compression it could rub.
I’m posting some pictures of the fenders, kit and oem wheels. Honestly, it doesn’t look bad at all. The fiberwerx glass has a great cut. Gaps were for the most part equal and...
