Regarding the BMS, Makuloco You Tuber says negative tender clamp needs to be behind the sensor mounted to the negative terminal for the system to recognize input.
First of all, thank you Ranger Forum.
Damnit this is infuriating. I just noticed a stain on my headliner over the drivers side C-pillar. 2020 Ranger XLT Super Cab. It’s garaged, but sat out in the rain the last storm San Diego had. I searched the forum for similar issues and find out Ford knows...
An old drag racing trick was to add weight over the rear tires for traction.
That seems to be the popular consensus. From my crawling days, more weight did help with compression when getting twisted and it smoothed the ride on the road.
I might have to accept the trade off for now. Keep less...
Not worried about lap times between lights. I'm not going in a circle. I think you mean elapsed time.
I bought a truck in the first place for work and I was getting 27 mpg loaded with tools. I'm getting great gas mileage and I want to modify the ride for off-road and highway.
The aftereffects...
My favorite trails were at Los Coyotes, since closed. Then Hammers. Outer Limits was always a favorite. Now anything in the San Bernadino's.
My good friend, Hootman, always called me Maddog. When I wanted to build a rock crawler out of my '85 4x4 XtraCab, I joined Marlin's Forum @MarlinCrawler...
I switched to Fox rear shocks at the same time I upgraded to the Icon UCA's and the Fox 2.0 coilovers from @Stage3Motorsports. It gives more of a controlled feel to the ride.
People advise adding weight, or lowering tire pressure. Both hurt gas mileage and more weight slows acceleration...
Yep, I have owned both Toyota and Ford . A 1986 4x4 XtraCab from new till 2020, and 2000 F150 4x4 XLT Supercab from new to 2020. When I looked to replace the F150, I tested Taco's and the Ranger. The Ranger had more power and better gas mileage, so it won out this round.
Well, over the past 50 years of modifying my personal vehicles, I've never been paid to do it. So I guess that makes me an amateur.
But when I do modify my vehicles, I get pride in knowing I built it and didn't pay someone else to do it, and at least I know it's going to be done right.
I...
Great technical input. Good info to have. I emailed my issue and a pic of the front coiler to Stage 3 , and got a response from Chris. He doesn't think it looks right. I might have to pull them and add preload. I'm waiting to hear back.
Wow, that's great. It sounds like you are making mods and getting results in par with what I'm looking for. Did you run Icon stocks with the UCA's?
I'm attaching a shot of my Fox 2.0 coilovers with Icon UCA's. The shock is bottoming out. Notice the zip tie on the shaft.
I installed as...
That's interesting and good input. The stock leaf is already at negative arch before it hits the bump stop. I just checked out Icon's site. It looks like their bump stops are same length, but softer compound.
Thank you. Your experience with a noticeably improved ride is good to hear. Icons are a better deal than APG's. I use the Ranger for DD and Off Roading which is a blend of highway, poor surface streets, washboards and a little rock crawling. I don't know people with different leaf packs or their...
Ive been playing with it. I think when the top leaf contacts the bottom, stiffoverload spring it stops hard. That happens about the same time it contacts the bump stop. And only leaves about 1/2” of shock shaft before that bottoms out.
I don’t want to trim or eliminate the bump stop, I’ll need...
