You know, I'm 70+ years old, have probably owned 100 different vehicles, have owned 30 (as of my current Ranger) Fords that came from the same dealer and have needed one alternator total and it was on an 81 Volvo with about 10k miles on it. Am I concerned, not in the least but to each his...
Agreed....I'm driving a 2020 as a rental while my Ranger is being repaired from a Kamakaze deer. It has 6k miles and wallows around, motor sounds like a peanut thrasher and rides like crap. I want my truck back..
Why would he want to join in on the keyboard wars? He has a 50/50 chance of winning even if he doesn't say a word. He only becomes an issue if Ford declines.......just sayin.
As far as the $1,686 charge to teardown the engine goes, I wonder what the basis of that charge is. If one had a 100% stock engine that blew up, I don't think there would be a teardown charge right? Was it only because OP had a tune?
A little explanation... Ford has required the dealer to...
My original answer to the OP was to be patient and believe the dealer is on his side. I've seen the process they use and it may or may not work out in his favor but I believe that it will be fair and accurate. It is between him and the dealer now and ANYTHING else is just.......
Makes no difference. IDS will show if it had a tune or not. It will also show speed, rpm, boost, oil pressure (or lack of) and everything else that was going on when it failed. As soon as dealer connects to IDS, Ford will have captured everything.
The question that Ford normally asks of the dealer is, "Can you be 100% positive that the tune caused the engine to fail"? Hell, I can't be 100% sure of ANYTHING. Be patient and believe the dealer is on your side.
Serve totally different purpose. I wouldn't tow with the ST even though mine has trailer tow. We actually roadtrip in the Ranger vs ST. It's fun to drive as is the Ranger and we mainly use it as my wifes daily to haul her buddies around. I like having both.
I'm on my third 2.7 vehicle, 2 MKX and 1 Edge ST. I usually trade somewhere between 70 & 100k. All that has ever been done is oil changes so all the plumbing doesn't bother me at all.
