I didn't expect this to turn into a semantic thing :) I guess it's because we are moving in reverse gear, I guess we could say moving in Drive as well for forward? I'll consult with the rock stuck in my brake shield to see what it prefers the nomenclature to be :)
So my wife mentioned it and I had her back the car up and it’s pretty wild. Silent rolling forward but backing up there is a curious rattle on the drivers side rear. Not really tied to speed it seems either.
curious if there is a rock in the brake shield, but not sure why it wouldn’t make a...
Just added in my reconfigured J&L Oil catch can (from my 2017 Edge Sport, sent in and had it cleaned and re-done for the Ranger for $70) to my 2019 Lariat (man getting to that back fitting behind the manifold is... a PITA.), and the Trac Auto Folding mirror control box that folds in the mirrors...
Yeah, rolling back an ODO is massively challenging in modern cars, requires pretty much swapping the ECU for lower mileage ones, but then the hard coded VIN is a mismatch as well. And as you said there is no way a ford dealer would CPO a truck that was rolled back... or even had a hint it was...
given the experian car report, and CARFAX, and the routine maintenance the truck had… that wouldn’t be possible to hide that. It was a low mile lease for the first owner. But yeah, I was also shocked at the air filter.
everything else on the truck looks like a sub 20k mile vehicle.
100%. Only negative would be is if someone neglects checking the status of that catch can for an extended period and it fills up. In winter it seems they fill up much faster so it's good to keep an eye on it.
The golden thing about cars... you can maintain them how you want. You can run oil until the oil life reminder goes off, and probably have the car run fine for the timeline you'll own it.... you can run a catch can or not.... you can change trans fluid way ahead of the schedule or not... Its...
Or... don't use one... no one cares. Everyone can maintain their ride how they want, and walnut blasting when you start experiencing CELs or just bad idle, and performance for no real reason... is definitely an option.
Umm... all DI engines have the issue... by design (unless they are the newer dual injection style where there is a set of port injectors that work now and then like the updated 2.7L Ecoboost). Lack of port injectors on most DI engines leads to the oil vapor coming out of the crank case to burn...
No need to wait, here is the answer: Because the general consumer is terrible at maintenance... and checking a can that can fill up with oil and fluid and if it does fill up, cause a CEL or some real smoky fun... is not something the MFGs can handle.
MUCH easier to just charge a customer $2500...
So in my process to do all the maintenance on the truck that should have been done as a CPO vehicle...
Today I went to look at how the cabin filter is going. Thats pretty damn wild for 18K miles.
This was after I noticed some bites out of the engine cover... I thought they may have just been...
Disagree with the snake oil aspect of Catch cans on Turbo DI engines. My 60K mile Edge Sport (2.7LTT) had one since 800 miles, tuned with a strong LMS 93 Octane tune dropping some big power from about 8000mi. Every Oil change I would dump about 3+ oz of fuel diluted oil out of the can. When...
First thing I did the day after buying the Ranger was throw Blizzaks on it :) I'm from WI, and used to drive hot hatches around the UP of MI in massive lake effect snow storms for fun... Learned a lot about running snow tires in the winter... so now its just default... its like a cheat code for...
After doing more and more reading around here, I was under the hood checking things out about something else, and noticed the valuable engine cover on this 2019 has a number of chunks out of it... something I never really noticed before.
After reading a bit about mice + engine cover... this...
dealer didn’t know more than was in the car fax. He looked it up and it was a light rear corner damage. Guessing the bumper got replaced or some paint got redone.
no thankfully not! I bought it from the Phil Long in Littleton who transferred the truck up. it actually had no dealer badge on it which I appreciated ;) Sheet metal screws?! really?? thats wild.
