If I remember correctly it's due to the suspension. The vehicle is made to go offroad, not tow.

Washers were enough, but a plate could be a good idea if you plan on using the plate for anything that might weigh more than two iphones. I had some nuts, bolts, and stuff just laying around that I used. Had to cut the bolts. I can post the drill bit size I used tomorrow.

Yea it 100% does. According to FOX, it's half an inch difference between the two. Anecdotal evidence suggests it's a larger difference.

Installed the ram mount for my phone. Track plate is bolted to the tray. Took the tray out and drilled a couple holes. Such a solid mount and I don't have to worry about adhesives going bad. I cannot take credit for this idea. Another member on here came up with the idea (i.e. WLFPIR8)
