  1. 12V to USB swap with pics

Yea there is but I really didn't want to cut the factory socket on the harness side. A friend of mine who is a Ford parts dude is the one who suggested I see if I could disassemble the existing 12V sockets so I have to credit him with the idea. Good luck!
  2. 12V to USB swap with pics

Sorry for the delay, just had time to pull it apart again and take some pics. The TL;DR is that I do use water tight spade connectors plugged into the back of the USB sockets but they are crimped to the wire that's then soldered to the connector that snaps into the harness. I wanted to...
  3. SOLVED: Driver Side Frame 1/2 Lower, Shim Added to Rear Leaf Spring

Gee thanks for doing all that extra work for me!:-) Even when logged in, your link doesn't work so I just looked it up myself. I can see that same pic now and I agree that it looks from the pic like that is a part of the spring assembly. I guess what confused me was P.A.'s comment in reply...
  4. SOLVED: Driver Side Frame 1/2 Lower, Shim Added to Rear Leaf Spring

Can you send a pic of the right side? I'd like to see it w/o the shim.
  5. SOLVED: Driver Side Frame 1/2 Lower, Shim Added to Rear Leaf Spring

Do you have a spacer on the right side too? I have one on the right (passenger) and two on the left(driver). I do believe they use the same frame and the only height difference is the front springs are a bit shorter as the overall height is ~.5" shorter. I'm getting that from this post...
  6. SOLVED: Driver Side Frame 1/2 Lower, Shim Added to Rear Leaf Spring

I have that slapper spring too it's what I referred to as the helper. So, I have the mono and the helper but the helper/slapper spring goes just as far in the back as it does in the front.
  7. SOLVED: Driver Side Frame 1/2 Lower, Shim Added to Rear Leaf Spring

Attaching a pic. It indeed has two spacers on the left and one on the right. Do those of you who have 4x4, XLT and/or Lariats have this half spring? I have the single spring with the load spring which was what all the reviews said the Ranger would have.
  8. SOLVED: Driver Side Frame 1/2 Lower, Shim Added to Rear Leaf Spring

Are you sure? I just went outside and looked, those shims don't extend out past the axle mounting flange so I'm not sure how they'd be a 1/2 spring. I used to have some 1/2 springs (the shortest leaf only went forward on the stack) on my '65 Mustang. These don't look anything like that, they...
  9. SOLVED: Driver Side Frame 1/2 Lower, Shim Added to Rear Leaf Spring

I just checked my 2WD STX XL and it has the two shims on the drivers side and one on the passenger. It was made in late March so it would have likely picked up any running changes. Honestly, given that I want the back lower I'd be tempted to take out the second one on the drivers side and the...
  10. Anyone have the stock alignment specs?

From my conversations with the guy at Custom Alignment, yes, you want some negative camber because when you put a load in the back and it squats, the front will get more positive camber. He liked the -0.04 number and suggested I get both sides set to that. I still have not as I was basically...
  11. RDT (Ranger Daylight Time)?

Ha, I was going to say something about the fact that I hadn't been driving 88 so I couldn't understand the sudden transformation into the future!:-). I clicked thru the menus, I see no way to set it to GPS or non GPS. The only options the clock has on my XL is to set the time and to set the...
  12. RDT (Ranger Daylight Time)?

OK, I'll check that out. I don't recall seeing that, note that I have an XL/STX w/o the Co-Pilot stuff so this is the base model screen.
  13. RDT (Ranger Daylight Time)?

All, I noticed yesterday that the clock on my Ranger was 2 hours in the future or the same as CDT when I'm in PDT. Oddly enough, it changed back to the right time when I turned it off. Starting it back up bumps it into the future again. Anyone else seeing this? Yesterday afternoon I reset...
  14. 2019 Ranger MPGs

I think another thing that impacts mileage that I've seen is the duration of trips. A lot of short trips with the truck not warming up fully will very much hurt the mileage. My first tank in my 2WD XL, STX was 18.5 reading and 18 actual. Since then I've gotten a range between 19.5 and 22. I...
  15. 2019 Ranger curb weight should be about 4210 lbs

Weighed my 2WD STX. With 3/4 tank of gas and me in it it was 4540. I'm about 180 so 4360 - gas (~80lbs) looks like 4280.
  16. First Encounter in the "Wild" (Ranger's Spotted Megathread)

Starting to see a lot more around here in the South SF Bay Area. Last week I was behind a Magnetic colored one. Dunno the specific's cause I was never beside it. This morning, I passed a white STX that had a business name on the side of it.
  17. 12V to USB swap with pics

Answering my own question here. I asked around a bunch and finally found a place called Anchor Electronics in Santa Clara, CA. One of the guys who works there named Orville is an EE and a veteran of Quement Electronics. He suggested I use this...
  18. 12V to USB swap with pics

Never wanting to leave well enough alone, I kept looking for a connector that would plug into the factory harness so that I could eliminate the 1/4" spade connectors that were cut in half to 1/8" and pushed into the harness. While it's probably fine, I really wanted to have the connector but...
  19. Ranger Keypad

Personally, I'd rather have it on the vertically on the B-Pillar like the F150's. I wouldn't mind a hole if it was 1) sealed and 2) meant that I never had to worry about a battery:-). Still, I'm happy enough with it as is as the black color of it matches a lot of things on my truck like the...
