Exhaust manifold or exhaust side of the turbo? Y2k F150s would develop a sharp, snapping or clicking sound that rose and fell with RPM. Louder on acceleration and barely audible on deceleration.
Some sources don't count one of the mid-2000s updates as a generation. I forget which one. There were two refreshes and a deeper engineering, which may or may not count as a bonafide generation.

I wonder what the exhaust temp is at the turbo under load. My Cummins ISX 15 would hit 1060ÂşF under sustained heavy load, but that was at 28-30psi boost.
