  1. Tremor squat?

My camper weighs 3245lbs empty and has a 325lb tongue weight. Add two 20 lb propane bottles for 80lbs and two lead acid batteries for 90lbs on the tongue the tongue weight goes up to about 495 lbs. The picture below is my Tremor with the trailer hooked up. And probably another 200 lbs in the...
  2. Anyone go on a cruise ship?

I can't imagine drinking 17 12 ounce cans of anything in a day. I would be bloated and throwing up.
  3. Disabling 12v charging to trailer

I don't know anything about LIFePO4 batteries, I just have deep cycle marine batteries in mine. They hold their charge between uses and during the winter I keep them in the garage on a battery tender.
  4. Honest Unleashed Tuning review

FWIW, I had Unleashed Tuning do a custom tranny time over a year ago and now have well over 15k miles on it. The quality of the shifting is so good that I don't even think about it anymore, just get in the truck and go. If I turn on the gear indicator it will skip 2nd and 5th sometimes but...
  5. Disabling 12v charging to trailer

Other than during an emergency where the trailer separated from the truck and the batteries were needed for applying the trailer brakes the trailer batteries aren't used during towing.
  6. California 21 Ranger Tremor Lariat

I agree, it is pretty much accepted the value of a vehicle is reduced compared to being stock when it has visible mods on it.
  7. Disabling 12v charging to trailer

I have a volt meter in my truck and when towing my camper the battery management systems quite often turns down the charge voltage to low 13s so even with the alternator charging the camper batteries the alternator is not being over worked.
  8. Disabling 12v charging to trailer

Why not disconnect it on the trailer side?
  9. Should I be concerned about this frame rust?

Considering Toyota pickups had one of the largest recalls in history for the frames rusting out and failing I wouldn't consider a used one without a very close inspection of the frame. Four folks at work were subject to the recall, two Tacoma's and two Tundra's. Three had the frames replaced and...
  10. 8020 Extruded Aluminum Question

Over the past 16 years I have used several tons of 8020 for bench frames, various holding fixtures and carts. What I have found anything that moves around a lot like a holding cart the 8020 clamps and brackets tend to loosen over time. Initially I put PM schedules on the carts so every couple of...
  11. Anyone go on a cruise ship?

I have been on a 1/2 dozen cruises, my favorite was the Alaskan cruise (senery was spectacular). My wife liked it but it was not her favorite, even though we did it in August you needed a jacket when outside, to her a cruise means sunning your self by the pool. Our first cruise was with an...
  12. Seeking thoughts on spray in bed liner.

The place that did mine removed the tie downs, the plastic filler plugs and the screws holding the access panel on the tail gate. All threaded holes were plugged with golf tees.
  13. OBD2 port, is this factory?

IMHO, if they didn't recognize that something was plugged into the OBD port I would say they are not competent for the job. I have a blue tooth dongle that I plug into my port so I can wirelessly monitor the engine with my phone. I have forgotten to remove it when I have gone in for inspection...
  14. OBD2 port, is this factory?

A lot of the larger auto insurance companies are pushing devices that plug into the OBD port that track your driving habits and promise a break on your premiums if you drive the way they want you to. Progressive is the most visible with their Snapshot device. If plugging something into the OBD...
  15. SYNC update

Over on the CyanLabs forum there has been quite a discussion on 3.4.23088. it is bit for bit identical to 3.4.22251 and after it is installed it still says it is 3.4.22251. General consensus is it is a screw up on Fords part and there is no 3.4.23088. CyanLabs is going to wait and see if Ford...
  16. Oil Filters - not specifically a Ranger topic

FWIW, in my 50+ years of driving I have had three oil filters fail. One Wix and two Motorcraft. With the Wix the end cap was not crimped to the can properly, as soon as I started the engine after an oil change oil came pissing out. The two Motorcrafts were back to back on my Ecoboost Mustang...
  17. Oil Filters - not specifically a Ranger topic

That is not true at all. Virtually every cell phone, computer, TV and most all other consumer electronics come from China. When was the last time some one said an iPhone was not a quality product, made in China in the same factory that makes Samsung phones.
  18. Oil Filters - not specifically a Ranger topic

FWIW, a friend of mine used to work for IPC Global Solutions. They claim to be the largest supplier of filters to the automotive market in the US. Anyway, every brand of oil filter you have ever seen had some portion of their filters supplied by IPC. IPC makes everything they sell in China...
  19. Maximum rpm range

When I had my 15 Ecoboost Mustang I spent a lot of time trying to get the best 0 to 60 time I could out of the car. Mine was a 6 spd manual and had the Performance Package which included 3.55 gears in the rear end. This combo would not reach 60 mph in second gear before hitting the 6800 rpm rev...
  20. Factory Five Racing, Speedstar kit

Been awhile since my last update on my Speedstar and I have been making progress. Today I took it out for its first drive. A couple of more things to finish up with the wiring and I will concentrate on body work.
