  1. Thinking of Up Sizing or Replacing your Ranger battery, Learn from my experience

Well It hasn't been much better than the original Ford battery. I purchased the upsized Lariat Interstate battery from Costco, and it lasted about 2 years, then the same, 'Shutting off accessories to save battery' message started appearing after about 20 minutes when running the radio with the...
  2. How many people had to take it back for warranty repairs?

Three trips to the local dealer for numerous battery warning messages on Sync. Each time dealer said battery tested 'great'. Even left over night to ensure battery was fully charged to help figure out issue. Last visit, after waiting two hours to pick up vehicle, was told they needed to...
  3. Rear Sliding Window Boot

I have a 2019 crew cab with a ARE shell. I purchased a Ranger with the 302A package especially for the rear sliding window. I agree with DFresh, the best use is for air flow through the cab. When the rear window is open and the driver's window is open, the air flow is greatly increased...
  4. Door ding repair

Dent from broken tree branch. Paintless Dent Removal quotes all over the board. $75 to $250. Most said since it is on the curve of the hood, may still be slightly noticeable. There are some do it yourself videos on YouTube. PDR Kits run about $60. Might just install a bug deflector to...
  5. Auto Start/Stop doesn't work anymore

Arc Ranger, here is my experience with the same issue, but soon after my auto S/S stopped functioning, I would start get messages stating something to the effect 'Shut key off to protect battery' when I would use the accessory mode to listen to the radio while engine was off for more than 10...
  6. New wheels for 21 Ranger Lariat?

Keep an eye out on Craigslist . SF area has several sets of black appearance package rims with tires. Most are take offs with 90%+ tread. Sets are usually in the $600 range (Seen as low as $450). May have to add the TPS sensor. There is currently a set of Tremor rims in LA but he want...
  7. Show your (1st) old Rangers

My '98 in 2018. Funny, I was just thinking today, I 'loved' that truck, and feel bad I only 'like' my 2019. I loved the working man's truck feel of the '98. It was like me, a little ugly, but always got the job done.
  8. First major booboo

Might be too much investment to purchase a donor vehicle, but I've been watching this site. If you found a Lariat with leather, or a sport package to upgrade wheel/tire, might be worth looking at. https://www.ridesafely.com/en/used-car-auction-ford-ranger-2020-red/bid/2109253214
  9. Start/Stop ... Just stopped?

Four words... Battery starting to fail. Good luck getting Ford to replace. Mine tested 'Excellent" on their Ford approved tester. A visit to Costco for a replacement battery solved all my system shutting down issues.
  10. 2021 Rocky Ridge Edition

I'm confused on adding the 'Black Appearance Package' only to remove most of it. Blackened emblems and spray in bed liner for $1090 doesn't make much sense. Their website mentions "exchange" for the tires and wheels so maybe that cuts the cost a bit but???
  11. Thinking of Up Sizing or Replacing your Ranger battery, Learn from my experience

AZ, not sure what part of AZ your in. This was taken below Spirit Mountain about 6 miles west of Bullhead City (Actually in NV) If you ever drive to Vegas, I recommend taking the 'Christmas Tree Pass' road/trail off 163 and drops you on 95 just south of Searchlight. The route has some...
  12. Thinking of Up Sizing or Replacing your Ranger battery, Learn from my experience

Have another 10 miles away but got soured on them when in March2019 went Ranger shopping there and they had a $5000 make up over MSRP on all Rangers they had on the lot. I walked away and never been back! AZ I like your profile pic. Here is one I took in your neck of the woods. Can you name...
  13. Thinking of Up Sizing or Replacing your Ranger battery, Learn from my experience

I wish my local ford dealer was as top notch as yours. Lithia Ford Fresno would not even discuss the possibility about replacing my failing battery. Three visits for extensive testing and then stopped returning my calls.
  14. Thinking of Up Sizing or Replacing your Ranger battery, Learn from my experience

It is a H7 (94R) AGM. specs: 850 CCA- 1000 CA- Item #1355852. If you go to most Auto Parts websites and enter Ranger Lariat as the vehicle, it will spec out this battery. As previous posted, it takes some fenagling of the post wires to get in the battery into the pan but is doable. The...
  15. Thinking of Up Sizing or Replacing your Ranger battery, Learn from my experience

After doing some research, I see the advantages of the AGM vs. the flooded style battery. I just think there is flaws in the Ford branded AGMs. Mine began to fail at 13K miles/2years, maybe due to the Ranger's 'Battery Management System' which only allows a max. charge of 75% unless change is...
  16. Thinking of Up Sizing or Replacing your Ranger battery, Learn from my experience

Hey WhiteRanger, thanks for the reply. Yes, replacing the battery fixed all the ills I was experiencing. My resting battery voltage jumped from 12.3 to 13.3VDC after battery change. I am a little pissed that my local Ford dealer would not even consider battery replacement during my numerous...
  17. Thinking of Up Sizing or Replacing your Ranger battery, Learn from my experience

I realize this post will not appeal to the masses, but want to help others who want to ‘up size’ their current battery to allow longer accessory usage between starts. Back ground -- I do a lot of camping. I tend to park my truck and utilize Sirius/XM, added bed lighting, and 12VDC power points...
  18. If Buying Today, Would You Still Buy the Ranger?

I love my truck, but absolutely hate the local Ford dealership. I took my truck in under warranty for numerous "Shut truck accessories off to to save battery' messages. All indications pointed to a faulty AGM battery (seems to be a trend). After three visits to the dealer and no resolution...
  19. Central Valley off roading

Been to Buck Rock CG many times, love the hike and climb to the lookout. Sounds Like Shaver Lake's 4th of July fireworks show is a go, but I'm sure half of Fresno will be there. HWY 168 will be crazy going up and down the hill. Up until a couple years ago, I explored the area in my 1998 2WD...
  20. Central Valley off roading

Are you in for camping? I prefer to travel light and tent camp. Made a trip to Bodie last year, went across 108 and was impressed with the area. I would like to explore more.
