Going to have to dig in Forscan for how to enable ambient lighting. Wiring is there in the doors, but the leads are always on. I had an LED hooked up for over an hour and it never shut off. If you lock the doors the circuit is off though and is ground switched (positive lead always hot).
These low power light pipe assemblies from Tyco may work and would forgo the need for an expensive dimmer. Still need a transparent sheet to get the color you want, and trim the length of the pipe down.
Let me know what you want to see.
You can buy aluminum channel for the strips with end caps, and quick connectors if you don't want to solder. Super Bright LED's sells the parts. The Amazon link for the same COB's SBL sells were 1/3 the price with more lumens, so a much better buy.

There is a cross member that spans between the chassis side rails (long members) just above the spare tire. To the outside edge of the spare tire on both sides is an existing chassis ground. If you look up into the crossmember there is a cutout (about 6" x 4") you'll see the bolt/nut and the...
Used some of the left over COB LED strips to add some bed lighting.
Mounted velcro to the underside of the X4S rails, then taped the COB strips to the sticky side of the velcro. This way if I have a strip go bad or need to replace I can just remove the velcro and reuse without having to tear...
Is there a known timer? Or is "x hours" just a reported value and its just the BMS kicking in at varying times due to varying loads, ie. there really is no timer just the BMS kicking in?
Sorry for the late reply on this. I misread your post first time. Others may find this helpful also.
Driver side rear along the frame just above the mounts for rear leaf spring is a 12vdc always on power source which is intended for the OEM Cargo Box Power Point (Part #14A411C).
Sometimes the DIY godz smile upon you.
Tomorrow is trash day so I was loading up the kitchen trash to take to the bin. Noticed the fancy blue drawstring on the 30 gallon Hefty Super Strong bag was transparent. Cut off a section and taped over the COB LED.
It's ever so slightly more...
It is a bit of work. All in all not too bad. The added illumination is nice, but the lack of gear indicator is sad. I can't say I've ever really looked down there for gear selection, its on the instrument display right in front of you if you really need it. Figured I'd take up the...
I used these for the fronts.
And these for the rears.
The rears are the coax version and have a thicker front facing. They come with a foam ring for the front so they snug to the door panel.
Do not bother with rear inserts (baffles) for the front doors. The window will hit. You can use...
Don't think I'll bother with the ambers when they show up, I'll just toss them into the spare LED's box. The COB's light up perfectly. You will need a dimmer as 12vdc is way too bright.
The COBS mentioned above have a cutoff voltage at 9.25vdc. I used this dimmer from Diode Dynamics as I...
