Really appreciate the response Phil. Makes sense. I’ve always wondered why this happens and I imagine with the ever increasing restriction on fleet vehicles, this is a workaround more so now more than ever. Thank you for the reply.
Yeah these trucks seem to all have their quirks. My Silverado always had a burned out daytime running light. Never failed to go out a few weeks after I had replaced it. I ended up just giving up on the issue. I do have the start up shudder but it’s not bad enough to annoy me. I may address it...
Haha challenge accepted. The way I see it is I have two options
Option A: drive my truck responsibly and make it last
Option B: drive it like I stole it and do a good enough job so that I get all major items replaced before the 60k mile warranty runs out.
Ah choices.
I’ve never had anything abnormal when going from park to reverse or anything I’ve noticed. Really just this truck acting “colder” than other vehicles I’ve driven in the past. My wife’s highlander I can put it into gear and go and it feels exactly like it does warm. This Ranger seems to rev up a...
I’ll have to call my company and see if they offer anything. I’ve read that there are a few good deals on the ford insurance directly through them. There are times when I think taking the truck to a private well reviewed/trusted shop is the best bet.
That is for the info. I do notice that if I remote start mine and it runs for 5-10 minutes it seems to help a bit. I use that scheduled start button in the app on weekdays since it’s been cold out. When it’s warmer I may not use it.
Damn that’s pretty good. I’ve thought about adding the extra insurance but I’ll have to price stuff out. I’m not sure how ford insurance compares to my auto insurance company for warranty claims (USAA).
@Msfitoy only difference is I’m still getting letters in the mail reminding me to extend my warranty.
These are from today. God when will they stop? I get 2-3 of each of these every week.
That’s interesting. I never knew that about the coolant being used to heat up the transmission. Learned something new. I will say this transmission performs flawlessly on the highway. City stop and go driving it lacks a bit. One good way of putting it was comparing it to an untamed horse ready...
Yeah exactly ? that’s a good way of putting it. A tune is definitely on my list. Man you guys weren’t joking about spending my money. I’m gonna tell my wife she’s got some serious competition ?.
Will do. Yeah I normally remote start my truck to let it warm up for 10 minutes of so in the mornings. I noticed this recently when hopping in and taking off after a few seconds. I’m still a new Ranger owner at 5000 miles. Bought the truck with 1700 on it.
Haha Appreciate it. Makes sense. I’m coming from 20 year old vehicles mostly so there is a learning curve for me to adapt to this truck. She’s stubborn but fun.
Yeah an 87 tune is on my list. Glad to hear it hates the cold…makes me feel better. Shifting has been decent in normal as long as I drive it hard. Truck doesn’t like it when I zone out and baby the throttle or when I’m behind an old lady going up a hill. When all I see is knuckles driving the...
Yeah the majority of the time in normal my truck shift 1st to 3rd. Once driven a bit and when taking off from a stop the truck doesn’t rev up nearly as high when in 1st. Definitely associated with the first few initial takeoffs but curious why. Very well could be the clutch fan. Seems louder in...
If you found yourself here reading this I’ll first start off and say this is a Ford Ranger forum, get your filthy minds out of the gutter. ?
Anyway I posed this question the Phil, so I’ll ask everyone so you can all take turns telling me either how dumb I am (most likely) or you’re gonna blow...
Phil, sorry to dig up an old post. Does this answer why when cold my RPMs rev up much higher than normal when shifting from first to third. I’ve been using the remote start since I got the truck and it’s been very cold. When I dont remote start the first two minutes of shifting when 1st to 3rd...
