Bought my Ranger last August with a heloc then sold my 2004 F250 Lariat 6.0 liter later. Had that truck since 2016 and loved it but our trailer is only 4100 GVWR and I just couldn't justify a diesel any longer. Love the Ranger but I do miss the bed space. I will get over it! ?
Glad you were unscathed. Defying the odds is awesome! I came down with Guillain-Barre syndrome in January and returned to work in nine weeks. Some people spend longer than that in the hospital. Beating the odds is a good thing! Now, that new Raptor..... ?
Unless you're doing an extreme build I don't think the Ranger Raptor needs much from what I've seen. The side steps are useless it looks like but other that, maybe better tires, they seem to be an awesome rig.
Sounds like another Ranger is in order based on how yours just saved your bacon!! I hate when someone might even scratch my truck let alone total it. Glad you're good and sorry you don't have your truck now. If it were me I would be getting another Ranger.
LT tires are really for F150 (1/2 ton trucks and heavier). The harsh ride was because of the 10 ply sidewall which is way too stiff for the Ranger and other mid-size vehicles. If you liked the Cooper and it came in the P sizes it would have given you ride you were after. The tire shop should...
The Ford tech I talked to said if you use the UUULV fluid in the dampers they will read your mind and open/close as you look at them. No need to pop the hood or unlock the tailgate. Amazing stuff I tell ya!
Good catch! I wasn't 100% sure. I don't mess with much anymore on the vehicles. I let my shop do it. Funny how my garage and I stay so much cleaner these days!!
Check your manual as it should have which fluid and capacity for the transfer case. I did my rear dif last fall with the Valvoline full synthetic. Valvoline Full Synthetic Looks like Mercon LV is in the transfer case which I think is the same as the transmission. I'm at work so not 100% on...
I try to at least wipe the tailgate off before putting on the pad to avoid grinding the dirt into the paint. So far so good. The back of the T3 has a soft brushed surface that helps a lot.
I've done the truck camper for years and travel trailer the last 22 years. I wouldn't go back to a slide in for how we use a camper. We like to set up then be able to drive to explore, fly fish, hunt, etc. I get the overlanding thing but at that point I think I would rather invest in a quick set...
I have a Race Face T3 two bike pad but my bikes are analogue (carbon fatbike and my Norco full squish). 80 pounds over the tailgate would get old on a regular basis. Plus there's the chance of dinging the truck in the process. One trick though is to unload and load the bikes with tailgate down...
I second checking the wrecking yards. We have one that has the "you pull" option but there's always a charge to just look so I always use the one where someone drives you out to find the part or just order the parts through their network. Get OEM at a fraction of the price. I don't always find...
Did some more checking and my mechanic shop can get the Toyo AT/III for about $500 less ($1,089 mounted & balanced) than the Open Range with an alignment included. I will likely be getting these instead. As far as I can tell they are made in Georgia.
