When I bought the truck in April 2021 I did a Sync update in the parking lot with the sales rep via Wifi. Since then I haven't done it again. I see you all talking about using a USB to do this update. Is there a difference between Wifi and USB updates?
One of the trucks on that run was in a 2000 ish F150 and took water in the air box in a mud hole. His filter was soaked right through, but fortunately didn't hydro-lock the motor. He pulled the filter out, and kept going for the rest of the day, lol.
I'm all loaded up for another run tomorrow...
I'm on 285/70-17 ~32.8" so same as OP.
For regular maintenance I use a garage floor jack.
For road side emergencies I use the factory scissor jack, but as @Utope mentioned I go under the LCA, not the manual recommended frame location. I have always done that with every vehicle, and every jack...
Even though I can't use it because of my tonneau cover, I still want to come get it for future consideration. As the crow flies you are just under 120 miles from me, but about 250 miles to get around Lake Erie. If my inner Fred Sanford wins over, and no one else takes it, maybe I'll see you next...
I thought about that but the current power supply is on a timer, speed cap, and comes on with the courtesy lights every time a door is opened. Combined they really limit it's functionality IMO and I couldn't think of a useful function for it.
You could maybe cut the power supply to the button...
I got a surprise invitation to go on a trail run on Friday, so I went home today to load up my off-road kit from my barn (No point moving it all to the rental, home is only 10 minutes away). About a mile down the road, I noticed my Sync screen was completely black, which I have never seen it do...
Update : I never heard back from Air Designs regarding their shitty workmanship on the bonding of the flare and light mounting piece. I wasn't really expecting them to send me a new flare, but would have appreciated their insight into the best product to complete a repair. Most plastics can be...
On route to my off-road run a few days back, I had a rock hit my driver's door, kicked out from a road-side cutting tractor. I knew when it happened it was going to leave a substantial chip/dent due to how loud the impact was. I didn't stop at the time, because having previous experience with...
Being one of those who lives in a heavy rain/snow/salt area, and having worked as a tow truck driver who saw many spare tires under PU trucks that were fkd, I take mine down when I install/remove my winter tires for a power wash then lubrication job on the lowering hoist. In the fall I also...
I broke my cargo light circuit board because I'm a clumsy fool sometimes, lol. I plasti-dipped over the cargo white lights, so only the 3rd brake light is exposed. I connected the 'reverse' light on my roof rack mounted Putco Blade to my Spod and use it for a cargo light now. It's awesome...
Not today, but Saturday took it for a trail ride. I'm still bad at getting video/photos in action, but did send the drone up for a bit.
And the aftermath while airing up for the trip home.
Yesterday, 3.5 hours power washing the mud off the outside, under-body, under-hood, and cleaning...
Congrats, black is definitely the best colour!
Power locking tailgate is one of my favorite little upgrades over my last truck. It's open when I need it, and (semi)secure when I leave it unattended. Great convenience. without having to deal with keys, or remobember to lock/unlock it.
I'm rural, mostly 55mph roads, so I don't have much traffic to deal with or traffic lights. I have a heavy foot, so in most cases D or S doesn't make much difference in those areas. I generally drop to S in the city, as soon as I see multi-lane roads, or the first time ASS kicks in.
I had to look up Steel it when you mentioned it in your build post, $60CDN +/can is a kick in the stones, lol. Great project you have going BTW, looking forward to the finished product!
I already bought a case of Raptor which I will be using on the bumper, sliders, fenders, doors and rear...
Yes indeed! You had a lot more than me with the extra bumper fittings I didn't have to deal with, and I'm not painting mine. I may weld some extensions on the bumper when I deal with the rust and re-paint it, but I'm not sure yet. I'll have to get a few more views of of the flares from more...
