so i'm in the exact same boat, OP... i'm trying to slowly update my 2019 ranger fx4, so i don't want to dump a lot of money at once (tires + wheels + suspension + tune, etc)..
my stock hanhooks are near shot at 55k miles.. so i need new tires soon.
What i've settled on:
size -- 265/70/R17 is...
yowza! looks like the back of the vehicle exploded. battery packs are often back there, so the cell must've had some kind of intense failure i figure. that's my wild a$$ guess.
edit: i'm wondering if it was user error on the charger or if it was a component was faulty in some way
Great info. I’m just starting to explore the realm of TT towing as that’s an easy way to save money on vacations (renting the TT from a nearby outfit).
I was considering taking my stock 265/65/17 tires up to 275/70/17s. I figure that negatively impacts towing, but is that anything to worry...
Do you have anything upgraded on the truck over stock in order to do that towing? I’m assuming at least some kind of trailer brake controller.
I’m planning to update to the aluminum transmission deep pan before trying anything crazy.
Yeah, that's honestly why I have considered the Eibach kit over the FOX kit. I think Eibach is adjustable without having to get the spring tool and all that to move the ring. The FOX kit just seems like the more versatile kit though.. tough call. Thanks for the update!
So I'm not totally sure I'm in the right place, and I do apologize if that's the case...
I'm looking to begin making tweaks to my 2019 Ranger FX4. Nothing too crazy as budget might be pretty tight on this one. Keeping it simple.. hence, Simple Jack (yes, I'm thinking of Ben Stiller in Tropic...
I just wanted to step in and say thanks for this. I'm considering the exact same tire brand and size, but using the stock FX4 17 inch wheels on my Ranger.. So seeing this work is really helpful. Any pictures with the FOX suspension set up? I'm assuming you don't have any rubbing issues and/or...
no problem! Glad it could help! They also tossed in a limited maintenance coverage plan as a “sorry”. I’ve been curious to what degree my dealer helped with that. I’ll never know. All I know is have full synthetic oil and tire rotations every 5k miles at any Ford dealer for the next 60k miles...
Product description says it doesn’t work with dampers. Oh well. I don’t have one now anyway!
My dual sport is under 300 pounds, but my ADV is roughly 500 pounds. I think the tailgate weight capacity is 400. It’s distributed between two wheels, but bumps make that weight change dynamically...
Gate King used to make a product for the Ranger that allowed it to lock at a 45 degree angle. This was more attractive to me than the simple damper. Then they stopped making it.

It seems to be...
it’s quite weird because all my area Ford dealers send me crap asking to buy my Ranger. When I was chatting with my salesman two weeks ago while my Ranger was getting serviced he told me they largely can’t hold onto Rangers. They sell quickly. They just don’t get many of them. So yeah, I think...
oh wow. So sorry to hear it didn’t work. Did you call recently? Maybe worth another shot and see if you get a different rep?
I was going to move on to another truck, but now I’m happy to stick with the Ranger. I really hope you find some resolution!
Yeah I’m completely fine paying $900 on a repair item when I’m outside of a warranty period. Warranties are a calculated gamble and Ford made this a softer landing.
UPDATE (because I hate it when the OP doesn’t close the loop):
Nearly traded the truck in. Considered going to a Tundra. I wouldn’t mind the increased space and capacity. Unfortunately, full size trucks were a financial shot to the nuts.
So I threw up a Hail Mary. I called Ford Customer...
On the one hand I completely agree. Why isn't it getting recalled? Honda recalled theirs. I'm curious what Ford's threshold is before initiating a recall. Repeated failures like this you would hope would be addressed outside of plain warranties via a recall. It isn't a wearable item, is it?
On...
