  1. Transmission work needed at 50,000 per Ford dealer

This may be an insanely stupid question, but if I connect my OBD port scanner to look at the computer codes via Fordscan, will it delete the codes or leave them in place? just as I spent money on this truck the transmission big time slipped out of gear in an intersection, revved as if in...
  2. This truck is getting to me…

Yeah that’s a lot of stuff gone wrong. Impressive you’re still holding on. Many other would’ve bailed by this point. On the one hand, you can cut your losses and move on, if you have the means. The issues you listed seems to justify it. If you wanna just grit your teeth and fight on, your...
  3. Ughhhh Re-Defroster FAIL!

i came here in search of a fix and here you have delivered! some of the black material came off, but the copper looking material is still in place. here's a photo: will this permatex product still work for me with the black material missing?
  4. bouncy ride

From all the suspension videos I’ve been watching lately it sure seems to me that comparing the stock suspension to an aftermarket is basically apples and oranges when it comes to their setup. Shock surplus did a good video explaining how the Fox shocks are linear, while the Bilsteins are...
  5. Dealer offer on Raptor Ranger

remember those dealer social media posts where they were walking around asking dealership employees how much their car payment was? The objective was to try and normalize paying over $1,000/mo for a car loan. As a, “everyone’s doing it so it must be fine.” approach. I remember it backfiring...
  6. What did you do to your Ranger today?

Yeah I asked them to put it in a different spot in the cab. They went for the easier to access spot (from a wiring perspective) that visually isn’t all that appealing. It’s down and out of the way by my left knee tho, so overall it’s very functional. Ah well.
  7. Dealer offer on Raptor Ranger

Sounds like the manager got you locked in at looking at a monthly payment. Don’t do that. 84 month loans are a tool to keep people in a debt loop. So are 72 month loans, honestly. 60 month loans should be a goal. Know how much your truck is worth. Know what a competitive price on the new...
  8. What did you do to your Ranger today?

Exactly my thinking as well! Good question. I didn’t ask, I just assumed they did. That’s the whole reason to go with Ford’s kit and it’s advertised that way in the product description. Your question makes me nervous that I didn’t ask hahaha
  9. What did you do to your Ranger today?

not as flashy as some awesome other stuff on this thread, but I got the Ford Accessory trailer brake controller installed. The dealership installed it, and I paid for the labor on Ford’s accessory website with a 20% discount. I think the labor was capped at $250. Honestly ended up being a steal...
  10. Transmission work needed at 50,000 per Ford dealer

I gotta wonder if Ford is trying to be aggressive about replacing the CDF Drum on older 10R80 transmissions. Doesn’t make sense financially and probably makes their warranty numbers look worse, but it serves overall goodwill. Tho the dealers making money off this, as suggested above, makes more...
  11. keypad reset?

i find it shocking that that picture of the card code doesn't have a huge "Warning! Do Not Discard!" label of some kind. That's a huge miss by Ford if they don't have that written anywhere on the card (unsure if it's on the back or located somewhere else).
  12. Tuned by Ford Fox 2.0 Coilovers are different than aftermarket Fox 2.0 kit

good info.. i'm just a normie with FX4 suspension that's been on for 65k miles.. hunting for the right set up for the occasional forest road or trail, but otherwise pure tarmac. with intervals like that i figure i'm best served looking into bilstein or eibach.
  13. I did another thing

this is a great point i hadn't previously considered. garmin explore seems to be "missing" features from basecamp, but is easier to use. so this tracks.
  14. Tuned by Ford Fox 2.0 Coilovers are different than aftermarket Fox 2.0 kit

Reviving an old thread for a question: I know the aftermarket Fox 2.0's require a rebuild after like 30k-50k miles. Does the Ford Tuned Fox suspension kit require a rebuild, and if so, at what mileage? I'm trying to decide what to do with suspension options. Rebuild mileage is a meaningful...
  15. I did another thing

ah good deal. i meant to ask if these bigger devices ran on an android OS, but my brain didn't remember to put that in the message. one lesson i've learned with these garmins is that there's a massive difference between a beginner and someone who has used garmin's for years. so i'm in the...
  16. I did another thing

Reminds me a lot of the Garmin Zumo XT (which I have) that is made for motorcycles that goes for $400 when on sale. This Tread model has a bigger screen, I believe, and the group comms are an additional feature the Zumo doesn't have. Tho that's solved with some cheap walkie talkies. Otherwise...
  17. Help!, What oil?

OP, you're likely to get a great number of responses in terms of brand of oil and what not. I think the most consistent thing you'll see here is to use a full synthetic oil. Just pick a brand and go. Me personally, I use Pennzoil Full Synthetic 5W-30 and the Motorcraft Oil Filter. Nothing...
  18. Anyone NOT have problems with the Ranger?

2019 XLT FX4 - just went past 65k miles bought it certified used at 22k miles, previous owner towed long highway miles with it from western ohio to the nashville area. issues: HVAC box/blend door/whatever, the bucking/surging epidemic solved by the replaced sensor (can't remember the sensors...
  19. Bosch sparkplug

Glad to know these are out there. Bosch, as a company, works to provide a lot of products to manufacturers as part of the vehicles they sell. IIRC, Bosch is basically the maker of the safety systems that a lot of motorcycles run with the 6-Axis IMU to include varying levels of traction control...
